Berend and Barbara are the owners of the company. Berend has been “mucking about” with boats since he was seven years old and has thirty years experience in the barging industry. He and Barbara met in France at"le Gatain Lock" in 1978. They have been barging ever since.
Berend spent the winters designing and building boats (from wooden dinghys to barge conversions for friends). In 1996 they sailed south and have finally dropped anchor a few locks down from Beziers Port where our company is now based. Barbara and Berend designed, built and decorated the barge to be the practical and spacious luxury boat that she is. Barge’s cherry wood finishing has gained depth with the satin varnish as she begins her 8th season. Winters still find Berend busy boat building in the old wine cellar along with a brokerage and ship surveying business.
Our barge is a purpose-built passenger barge. Designed and built by Berend Gozens, She is the culmination of over 20 years experience in catering for a discerning international clientele. She accommodates six guests in three cabins, each with private facilities, and benefits from air conditioning and central heating. The large picture windows in both the salon and cabins ensure that you are able to see the world float by at all times. Gourmet meals are prepared with skill and imagination from fresh local produce by our barge's professionally trained chef, whilst the wines are meticulously selected by our qualified sommelier and represent the very best of the region. An experienced guide will accompany you on excursions chosen to suit your group's interests.
An English-speaking crew of four will be at your beck and call from the beginning to the end of your cruise. Between them they have close to 65 years experience with hotel barging. Clair de Lune employs service-oriented crew members that have considerable experience in the hospitality industry.
