Since 1988, M15449 has provided treks and personal arrangements for independent, spirited travelers and small groups wishing to explore the rich cultures of the Himalayan countries and Southeast Asia. We have an intimate, first-hand knowledge of the majestic Himalaya — in India (Ladkah, Sikkim, Spiti, Lahoul), Bhutan, Nepal and Tibet. We schedule annual tours in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Burma. Custom trips to any of these areas are available at any time on request.
We offer original itineraries, logistics planning and experienced guidance for independent trekking, touring and pilgrimages. Trips can range from easy day hikes and comfortable hotels, to strenuous, 20-day treks with rugged camping at high altitudes. Participants receive a detailed packing list, maps, a language guide, detailed trail notes and a listing of practical medical and physical preparations. Our staff is available to answer any unique questions you might have.
For the independent traveler, M15449 will plan your custom trip along with you (while offering knowledgeable suggestions for getting the most with your time, effort and money). We produce complete trek and tour packages as well as independent custom itineraries based on your specific goals. Our service is personal. Our staff will become your friends. 1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?
We have been in business over 20 years. We started in 1988.
2. What is your company's mission?
I want people to learn and grow though the experience of traveling through traditional cultures while giving back to those same communities.
3. What does your company specialize in?
We offer small group and custom or individual travel to India, Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet and anywhere else in Asia including Myanmar, Vietnam etc.
4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?
Founder/Director Effie Fletcher has been running M15449 since inception. She owns and operates the company full time. In addition she is the coordinator of Buddhist Pilgrimages and teaches first aid classes. In the past she has attended NOLS (The National Outdoor Leadership Program) and led Sierra Club trips.
5. What is your most popular travel package and why?
Our most popular trips are those to the Everest regions of Nepal and Tibet. In the past it has been an in house joke that we should be "the Everest trekking company." For many people seeing the highest mountain in the world, hiking up to the Base Camp or to one one of the nearby view points is a major goal. We really know how to make this a success for people and so they tend to both repeat trips with us and recommend us to their friends.
6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?
"This trip really changed my life..." Many people keep in touch with Effie and other members of our staff for years after their trip and even if they don't have the opportunity to return to Asia again find that the experience changes their life for the better.

They were helpful, courteous, friendly, knowledgeable, supportive, and attuned to our needs. Our trip went smoothly without any difficulties. It was very affordable for an organized trip at about US$2000, which included guides, food, lodging, entrance fees, and transportation within Nepal.
