M15516 is a luxury country cottage, farm stay and self-contained 5 Star Bed & Breakfast just 30 minutes from the world famous Waitomo Caves in New Zealand’s central North Island.

Ideal as an intimate romantic retreat or weekend getaway, it’s peaceful and private with stunning views. The setting is a large and lovely country garden on a typical New Zealand Sheep and Beef farm.

The hand-crafted cottage is light, airy and warm with oiled wooden floors and stylish décor. There’s a charming downstairs lounge and dining area with TV/DVD & sound system, a fully equipped concealed kitchenette and a spacious, modern bathroom with robes, slippers, bed socks, hair driers, exclusive complimentary toiletries and heated towel rail.

Hammock chairs on the veranda are ideal for relaxing and enjoying the uninterrupted views. The upstairs mezzanine bedroom has a queen-size bed with pure cotton linens and quality furnishings. Fresh flowers, coffee & tea assortments, home baking and port are always provided. Downstairs a sofa-sleeper converts to a comfortable double bed for 2 extra guests and children are very welcome.

Full gourmet breakfasts or served in the nearby homestead or delivered to the cottage. Private dinners are also offered by arrangement and feature a wide range of creative options.

M15516 has operated since 2001. I started it because I enjoy hosting visitors and sharing our beautiful farm location.

To provide exceptional hospitality and service and a very private and personalised stay.

Self-contained Bed & Breakfast accommodation, honeymoon stays, private romantic accommodation. Dinners also available by prior request.

4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?

Elisabeth Cowan - farmer's wife, university graduate, tourism operator.

5. What is your most popular travel package and why?

Self-contained Bed & Breakfast accommodation with optional, privately catered dinner options.

6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?

My girlfriend rated this cottage as the best stays among all her overseas trip. The moment I arrived at the cottage, we were warmly welcomed by Liz. She gave us a little orientation of the area and I was impressed by the design of the cottage, it definitely gave me a very homely feeling. I think Liz has done a great job in constantly reminding us that do not hesitate to look for her if we need anything. The breakfast made by her was absolutely amazing.

		We stayed at Kamahi Cottages for two nights and ideally it would have been more. The surroundings were beautiful. The cottage itself is very comfortable ... view more and very well laid out with a living room, bath and kitchen downstairs and the bedroom upstairs. The bed was great. The host were gracious and looked after everything. We had dinner at their house for both nights and their company was enjoyable and the food was just great. Just before dinner Evan practised his bagpipes on the lawn in front of his house and that added to the ambiance. The farm was on top of a hill with beautiful views to the south. Not a sound was to be heard except for occasional farm sounds. A wireless computer network made it easy to get news from home. Coco, the cat visited and also made friends and played. As I said this was the best on our three week trip and it does not get any better than at Kamahi Cottage.
