Karen and Tony Vega, owners and dive guides, have over 30 years experience teaching and escorting divers in Puerto Rico. Courses available include Discover Scuba and Open Water checkouts plus a variety of specialties. Our Award-Winning staff offers PADI & NAUI courses. We are also a Universal Instructor Affiliate.

We offer the best local dive sites in San Juan. The Figure 8 and Horseshoe Reefs are 30 ft. high, right off the beach, where you can experience fish feeding and swimming through tunnels. Prearranged escorted dives go out at 9:30 am, 11 am, 2:30 pm and 4 pm daily from our beach at the Normandie San Juan Hotel.

We also arrange escorted trips to the exotic diving off the East Coast or Fajardo area. This is the boat diving area. This day trip is for groups of 6 persons including divers and snorklers. We usually go to Palominitos Island (3 miles off shore) where we dive and snorkel on reefs around the island. This trip leaves from San Juan at 8:30am and returns at 5:30 pm for a full day of fun and adventure. Complimentary transportation (from San Juan), lunch, sodas and equipment are included in the Island-Diving Picnic package.

1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?

29 years, starting at the Caribe Hilton 1982-89 then moving to the Normandie Hotel 1990-2005 & now operating lessons and dives behind the Normandie Hotel 2005-present

2. What is your company's mission?

To supply convenient, safe & competent local scuba & snorkeling NAUI & PADI instruction & tours to tourists visiting San Juan

3. What does your company specialize in?

We specialize in customizing the tours to the clients by showing them specifically all the smallest marine critters they would normally pass over without seeing

4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?

Karen Vega the first female certified as a scuba instructor in Puerto Rico in 1977. For the past consecutive 34 years been teaching, guiding & protectinig the marine life in her areas.

5. What is your most popular travel package and why?

The dives to the Figure 8 Reef as the fish swim along with the divers & will feed from the divers

6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?

I never saw so many different types of marine life just from the beach!

		Although it has been a few years since I went diving with Karen, the several times that I did go were absolutely wonderful. She made sure that I was prepared ... view more and offered advice to this diver with not much experience. The dive in the lagoon was great. Easy entry and exit. Visibilty not the best, but still at least 30 - 60 feet distance with a depth of diving around 38 feet. Variety of sea life such as octopus and spider crabs. Patient with me and making sure that I did everthing correct. If you have not been diving in the Figure 8, I highly suggest that you contact Karen and take a dive!
