Questions and Answers
We provide amazing surfing vacations for women around the North Oregon Coast.
1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?
M15901 started in 2006. No opportunities for learning to surf existed on the Oregon Coast. My love and enthusiasm for surfing put me on my path to develop a dynamic surf program for people to become empowered with surfing. We started with Day Camps and lessons our first summer season, and have expanded over the last 6 seasons to offer Surf Weekenders, Couples Surf Weekender Getaways, Week Surfing Immersions on the island of Kauai and on the Oregon Coast, Teen Adventure Week, Custom Girlfriend Getaways, Custom Guy Getaways, and Group/Private Lessons.
2. What is your company's mission?
M15901 mission is to bring to the north coast of Oregon and the island of Kauai, opportunities for women, men, couples and kids of all ages, to learn how to surf in a supportive, progressive, learning environment. Our qualified team of surf instructors will provide knowledge for the students in water safety, basic through intermediate skills, and hands-on surfing experience with personalized surf coaching. Our goal is to empower each participant with the basic/intermediate skills and confidence to pursue surfing and it's healthful lifestyle. Our larger goal is to create a M15901 women's surfing community; networked and supported by individuals, private contractors, local/regional business partnerships and ocean conservation liaisons.
3. What does your company specialize in?
Surfing instruction and surfing event opportunities.
4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?
Lexie Hallahan is the Director and Visionary for M15901's Surf Camps. Hallahan started surfing the winter of 1987 on the Oregon coast with a bodyboard. She bodyboarded for five winters, then started surfing with a surfboard the summer of 1992. She’s surfed for 20 years. Hallahan was the General Manager for the original surf company founded 1980 on the Oregon coast, Cleanline Surf Company, for 16+ years.
Over her years in business, Hallahan has researched extensively surfing instruction at surf schools, from surf videos and on You Tube. She’s focused on learning surfing safety skills to teach her students. She’s completed course(s) in lifeguarding, first aid and CPR. With this expansive knowledge, she has created M15901’s dynamic teaching methodology. All of her instructors learn these skills before teaching students. She’s taught 100’s of students the art of surfing over her time in business.
