Music and Markets conducts small group tours to music festivals in Europe, focusing on the unique cultural features, cuisine and wine, and stories inherent to each place.
1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?
Because of our love for the stories that make the places we visit come alive, we were delighted to launch our company in 2003. Since that time, we've taken dozens of enthusiastic travelers on exciting explorations of life and music in Europe. We look forward to traveling with you to share in the wondrous history, culture and communities of this great continent.
2. What is your company's mission?
Our mission is to make Europe’s lesser known classical music festivals accessible to American travelers by designing tours for small groups that are filled with interest and beauty; and creating lifetime memories so that our guests may share our enthusiasm for travel, love of music, and appreciation for European culture.
3. What does your company specialize in?
It is an exceptional tour operator offering programs which allow our guests to attend premiere musical events in Europe hosted and guided by our knowledgeable staff. In addition to concerts in fascinating venues, our guests discover the charm of each locale through our combination of unique itineraries; charming upscale accommodations; great regional food and wine; introduction to local products and specialties; and small, friendly groups (no more than 10 guests).
4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?
While Kirk and Anne have organized travel and music groups for many years, Kirk's background is in project management and competitive writing. Anne is an accomplished pianist with over thirty years of teaching experience and a writer who specializes in French and Italian travel and food.
5. What is your most popular travel package and why?
Our most popular tours are the July Amalfi Coast Music Festival and the New Year's Jazz in Italy tour. Why? It must be the superb landscape, food, wine and culture of wonderful Italy!
6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?
We have traveled a fair amount and your Spring Music Festival tour in Prague stands out as one of the most memorable. Your attention to detail for carefully selected restaurants with ambiance and excellent food, outstanding music in beautiful historical venues where the presence of earlier musicians was recognized, and walking tours that brought the history of Prague alive, reflected your personal care and accommodation. Although we made our own travel plans in the past and were hesitant to join a tour, we would consider this operator first for future traveling.
