About your host, Elise Billock Tropea:
Elise has combined her 30 years of passion for Greece with her professional career dedicated to body-centered therapy and wellness for women (MCAT, ADTR). Retreat to Evia™ reflects that and her considerable time studying and traveling throughout Greece. Her studies have afforded her a working command of the language and solid friendships with those Greeks who will help you to experience the real Greece.
Elise earned her masters degree, MCAT (Masters of Creative Arts in Therapy), ADTR from Hahnemann University, Philadelphia, PA, and has been a faculty member since 1974. She has supervised and mentored graduate students from all over the world for the past 20 years.
In addition, she has held faculty positions at University of the Arts, Philadelphia, West Chester University, PA. and Pratt Institute , NY, where she has designed and taught a variety of courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
Elise served as a clinical dance/movement therapist in the Body Balance Program: An Alternative for Large Women, at Philadelphia’s Renfrew Center. She is co-creator and facilitator of the embodiment model, a feminist relational approach that integrates verbal and non-verbal methods with women with eating disorders and body image issues.
Elise has presented over 300 workshops and seminars to educators in the US and in Taiwan on the power of non-verbal communication and the efficacy of non-verbal assessment in understanding learning styles. She is a frequent conference speaker, and has co-chaired 2 international conferences for the American Dance Therapy Association.
In addition to offering wellness retreats, she maintains a private practice with varied populations served for three terms as a member of the American Dance Therapy Association’s Board of Directors.
