1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?

We began operating in 2004. The business was started by 2 seasoned travellers from Europe who were tired / frustrated of the poor service offered by the majority of travel agencies / operators in Latin America and wanted to make a difference by focusing on excellent and honest customer service combined with in-depth destination knowledge.

2. What is your company's mission?

To be a company run by happy people delivering the perfect holiday experience to extremely satisfied clients. - Each and every client is to be treated as a king, provided with a uniquely personalised service, honesty and reliability always, and a superior level of travel advice in a homely and friendly atmosphere. - Our staff are our most valued asset and are always to be treated as such. We aim to provide them with the opportunity to grow and develop alongside us. - We aim to improve accessibility to Ecuador as a travel destination and to effectively promote responsible tourism to our clients. - Above all we want to maintain an element of fun in all that we do.

3. What does your company specialize in?

We specialize in trips (cruises, diving, island-hopping) at the Galapagos Island, and tailor-made packages to mainland Ecuador including the Amazon Rainforest, Andean Mountains & Pacific coast.

4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?

John Potts, hailing from London UK, is a seasoned traveller having visited more than 55 different countries worldwide, and with over 9 years of travel and work experience within Latin America. He holds both BA (hons) and Msc degrees in business and management from UK universities. He is the original founder of M16824 and has been living in Quito for the past 8 years where his big passions are football and nature.

5. What is your most popular travel package and why?

Galapagos Island cruises are most popular simply because Galapagos is such a unique once-in-a-lifetime destination & a dream holiday for any nature lover. The recent bicentennial (last year) of Charles Darwin has also increased interest in the archipelago.

6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?

Seasoned travellers often tell us that we are the best agency/operator that they have ever had the pleasure of dealing with on their travels … given the immense competition in the worldwide travel industry we consider this to be a wonderful compliment.
