For more than 60 years, our company has hosted travelers from all corners of the world. Through our company, many have returned time and time again together with their families and friends, to experience Iceland’s unique, beautiful nature and historical traditions.
Our dedicated team never loose sight of the ‘personal touch,’ and work hard to ensure that the varied and interesting itineraries offered by our company provide fully for the needs of today’s travelers.
Our company was formed in 1929, when our founder Guđmundur Jónasson obtained his first driving license. Fascinated by the seldom explored interior, he ventured out to the highlands and even onto the glaciers, opening up a whole new world to the 20th century traveler.
Since his death in 1985, his family has continued to share his love and enthusiasm for Iceland, and are committed to introducing even more interesting tours and adventures for everyone to enjoy.
We also own a fleet of modern, comfortable buses which range in size from 10 seats to 58 seats and in addition have a number of 4 wheel drive and high clearance buses which are specifically adapted for highland travel. We also feature tours requiring 4 wheel drive Super Jeeps, and provide these with driver/guide to suit either individuals, families or groups. These vehicles are ideal for Icelandic travel throughout the year, and are capable of crossing rivers and traversing glaciers.
We also offer self-drive itineraries where we pre-book accommodation and car hire so that travelers can enjoy the scenery at their own pace with the peace-of-mind that our company has carefully selected the routes to ensure maximum enjoyment.
In addition to scheduled tours, our highly experienced Group Planning Department can create itineraries to suit particular needs. These include specific ‘special interest’ tours for groups keen on photography, bird watching or geology – and for school trips, as well as organizing walking and natural history tours. They will arrange for all accommodation and transportation – which can include camping, farmhouse accommodation and/or hotels – and we always provide a specialist guide.
Our company’s headquarters at Borgartún in Reykjavik house not only our main travel office and fleet of vehicles, but also a good standard 22 room Guest House – all comfortable bedrooms are en-suite and have color TV. There is also a breakfast room and lounge with internet access and it is only a short walk to the main swimming pool and close to a good selection of restaurants. Reykjavik City Centre is within easy reach, either by foot or by local bus.
We believe that our brochure offers ‘something for everyone’, and if our guests wish to travel even further, we are also experienced in organizing travel to our neighbors Greenland and the Faroe Islands. These countries can either be added to an existing or specially created Icelandic itinerary, or treated as stand-alone destinations.
