Christopher Stacey is well acquainted with the mountains in all their moods. Having worked in forestry harvesting for most of his life, Christopher wished to share his love of nature and the richness of the traditional ways of his childhood. More recently, he has completed the BOS Mountain Leader course, which covers all aspects of mountain leadership, including safety, first aid, map reading and navigation.

Teresa Stacey monitors the progress of our tours, ensuring that all aspects of the tours run to schedule. Her main remit is the self-guided tours program for which she manages luggage transport to the various accommodations. Layla Stacey: her role in the team is assisting Granddad on some of his low-level walks or co-driver on his bus tours. Pixie: she spends most of her days walking with Christopher in the mountains.

We wanted to share our love and interest in the great outdoors with others so we started guiding individuals and groups in the Wicklow Mountains.

1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?

M17220 was founded in 1994 by Christopher and Teresa Stacey.

2. What is your company's mission?

Our mission is to provide you with a personal, professional, safe anduser-friendly service on our guided/Escorted and self-guided walking tours of Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the Lake District. There is no better way to relax and de-stress then on one of our walking tours. Staying in one of our carefully chosen comfortable accommodations, enjoying wonderful food, walking in an awe inspiring landscape, listening to traditional music and good company along the way. All our walking tours can be customised to precisely the needs of our walkers to provide you with an interesting, life enhancing experience. Our wealth of experience that we have earned over the years has gained us the respect of our customers and friends around the world.

3. What does your company specialize in?

Guided and self-guided walking tours.

4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?

Christopher Stacey, he has lived and worked a lifetime in the more remote forest areas of Wicklow. He knows and loves the local characters, the people whose lives are steeped in local traditions and folkways.

5. What is your most popular travel package and why?

All our tours sell well so this is a tough one to answer, if we were to pick one we would say our Dingle Way 8-day tour. Why, well I guess it is because of the Fantastic array of landscape, beauty, history and nature that the peninsula has to offer.

6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?

Dear Mr. Stacey, I'm back in DC, and when my friends ask me how my trip was I explain to them that I am in a state of grace. I just wanted to let you know how grateful I am for the week you provided us. Who knew? Who woulda thunk? that it would be so, so, so, so very, as the Irish say, grand.
