Born of a desire to combine the exciting history of South Africa with its spectacular scenery, M17395 takes enthusiasts on battlefield tours of distinction. Groups are kept small, self-drive tours are available and private accommodation establishments are utilised where personal relationships can be forged. Emphasis is on accurate accounts of military engagements, against backdrops of endless views and the limitless African sky.
We cover not only engagements of both the Anglo Zulu and the Anglo Boer Wars, but also the rise and fall of the Zulu nation, and the conflict between the Zulu and the settlers from Europe. For those of a reasonable level of fitness, horse trails and walking trails through these battlefields may be enjoyed. There is no better way to appreciate the difficulties of terrain and distance faced by British generals and their armies than from the back of a horse or on foot. Safety and comfort are assured and those not yet passionate about military history will be thrilled by the scenery and the multi-cultural diversity revealed in these tours.
Guides are always battlefield specialists with wide-ranging knowledge on their subject and Nicki von der Heyde, owner of the company, is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and an honorary life member of the Anglo-Zulu War Historical Society.
At M17395 our tours are always aimed at the correct level of knowledge and interest of each particular client. |
