1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?
In 1997 Jose Marti visited Southern Patagonia for the first time and the following year he returned to work as a fly fishing guide, fulfilling his life’s passion. He has been guiding the XI Region of Chile ever since, starting Chile on the Fly in 2003.
2. What is your company's mission?
Chile on the Fly provides professional guided fly fishing excursions throughout the XI Region of Patagonia Chile. To the most experienced and novice angler, Chile on the Fly will impart years of knowledge and experience to make for guests the best possible fly fishers they can be.
3. What does your company specialize in?
Professional guided fly fishing excursions, throughout the XI Region of Southern Patagonia.
4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?
Jose Marti grew up in California and graduated with a Fisheries Biology degree from Humboldt State University. After graduating he started working with the National Marine Fisheries Service as an Observer on commercial fishing vessels fishing out of the Bering Sea of Alaska.
During the winters Jose traveled to Southern Patagonia to embark on his life’s passion, fly fishing. By 2008 Jose was guiding year round, spending his winters guiding Southern Patagonia, and summers guiding in one of the Premier Fly Out Lodges in Alaska, Alaska Rainbow Lodge.
5. What is your most popular travel package and why?
My most popular travel packages are the ones my guests suggest. I have been exploring and guiding Southern Patagonia since 1997, and I still have not fished everything there is to possibly fish, so the ones my guest suggest to me are by far the most exciting and rewarding fly fishing adventures I offer.
6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?
The best complement I have received from a guest is "really, I did not know that, wow that really works!"
