Our school was established as a language school that taught Turkish as a foreign language to foreign nationals. The school was established by Zeynep Gunduzyeli, who is a teacher herself, and her husband, Bora Gunduzyeli, a successful businessman. It’s been 11 years since we set up our first branch in Istanbul and we now have 5 branches, 100 English teachers, 15 Turkish teachers, around 3,000 students and are working with more than 50 companies. The next 2 years will see branches opening in Adana, Ankara, Antalya and Izmir.
Although we belonged to the International House World Organization for 6 years, and are currently affiliated to English First, we see ourselves as an independent network of schools. Our success has been built upon a team of experienced and professional teachers, marketing and administrative staff, many of whom have been with us from the start, who have helped to create a professional but friendly learning environment for all of our students.
The center teaches Turkish as a second language to foreigners in Istanbul. Our Turkish lessons are generally planned to teach students starting from Beginners level how to speak the language correctly and fluently from the very first lesson and in a short time. The materials used to teach Turkish are specially designed by our teachers to help those foreigners who have little time to learn the language and who need to start using it as soon as possible. We guarantee our students’ immediate progress both in grammar and communication. Customer satisfaction is our main priority.
The center was opened in 2004 to satisfy the ever-increasing demand for Business English and tailor-made programs. In 2005 a Training Center was established. The school has been running CELTA courses since 2004 and the new Training Center also provides quality in-service and pre-service training opportunities for native and non-native speakers of English.
For the impending 2007-8 academic year the school has been busy preparing courses, both general and tailor-made, using the ‘can do’ approach established by the Common European Framework. We are also proud to announce the opening of a pre-school here in Istanbul in partnership with the UK-based organization SKOLA.
