M17642 is owned and run by Byron Bay's original and best surf tour operator, Terry Hannon. Terry innovated the surf school industry on NSW's far north coast with the opening of Byron Bay's first surf school in 1993. The word of mouth publicity generated by his successful venture saw Byron Bay quickly evolve into what today is Australia's unofficial learn to surf capital.

In 1999, with the opening of his second successful school this iconic frontman continued his winning reputation. Terry set about delivering on a unique selling point that would outclass all his competition. His selling point came in the form of a world exclusive surfing guarantee for which our school is now famed: ``Stand and ride a wave for 40 metres or your money back!''

Terry is also widely acclaimed as the "Steve Irwin of learn to surf" for his infectious enthusiasm, upbeat humor and Aussie larrikinism. He has been surfing for more than 30 years and has the well-earned distinction of being Byron Bay's most experienced entry level surf instructor. He has taught 10s of 1000s of locals, backpackers, holiday makers and corporate giants how to surf.

His love of instructing is unparalleled which is why you'll see him personally running more classes than any other surf school owner on the far north coast of NSW.
