Learn:
- Theater skills are introduced and developed through the four-week program. Whether you are new to the stage or flexing your established creative muscles, workshops are designed to build skills from whatever level you begin. You will be challenged by the strengths of your peers in some areas and have the opportunity to lead in your areas of strength. The strong tradition of physical theater in France contributes a major theme of the program. Other theater traditions are introduced as well to give participants a variety of tools to choose from for their work.
- Intensive singing and vocal work strengthens and challenges all levels of experience and interest. Singing work is structured within a musical theater sensibility, preparing the performer to interpret lyrics in a dramatic stage context. Workshops focus on vocal technique as well as song interpretation. Music composition and lyric writing create original work for the final performance.
- Movement and dance workshops begin with body awareness. Participants work on basics (flexibility, agility, coordination) and are introduced to various styles of dance. Important connections between movement and acting are made through physical theater. Body awareness and breath support shared with voice work (both speaking and singing) are also developed in movement workshops. Creating original choreography and integrating movement with performance are the goals of the work. |
