Our company began as a holiday resort in the 1960's and for many years it was what you would term today as a "time share" accommodation resort with chalets owned by the shareholders of the Company Eagle Boat Hire Company Limited. Since that time the shareholding of the Company has changed a number of times.
Management of the Resort was taken over by the current owners, Steve and Carol Thompson and Lorraine and Johnny McCormick in April 2005. Significant improvements have been made since the take-over and further improvements will continue to be made.
Upgrading of the resort is a continuous process and a number of additional improvements have already been made namely, the building of the "Beach Bar" which has now become the focal point of the resort, improvements to the Restaurant, Kitchen and Restaurant Services, refurbishment of the swimming pool area, Chalet upgrading, including the installation of air-conditioning, wall fans and walk-in type mosquito nets, and general improvements to the maintenance of the infrastructure. We are committed to making Eagles Rest one of the best holiday venues in Southern Province and indeed Zambia. Our maintenance and upgrading programe will continue with of course the minimum of inconvenience to our customers - you!
Our plans for the future include:
* additional upgrading and maintenance
* construction of a second pool on the beach which will create a safe swimming area on the beach for the kids
* a children's adventure playground
* enlargement and improvements to the Restaurant and Kitchens
* relocation and improvements to the main pool/restaurant bar
* big screen TV lounge
* construction of a small Executive Conference Facility
Accommodation currently consists of 12 Chalets (all en-suite) furnished with either double or twin beds - a third single bed is included in chalets 1 to 8 providing 4 chalets with double bed plus single and 4 chalets with twin beds plus single. For family groups, the third bed in chalets 1 to 8 can be substituted with a bunk bed on request. The remaining chalets from 9 to 12 are either double or twin rooms only. All rooms have a small bar fridge and tea/coffee making facilities, large walk-in type mosquito nets covering the whole bed, air conditioning and all windows are fully mosquito proofed. We offer bed & breakfast rates as well as self catering rates. Outside the chalets is a small veranda equipped with table and chairs where you can sit in private and enjoy magnificent views across the Lake. For the self caterers, the veranda also has wash-up facilities and an outside braai fire (barbeque).
