In 1988 we recognized the growing interest and need for teaching Spanish to foreigners as international travel began it's dramatic increase and all of a sudden the world was a more accessible place. As a family-owned Spanish school, we take a keen interest in our students' academics and make every effort to ensure their time at Instituto Superior de Español is a valuable learning experience for each and every individual.

We are renowned in Ecuador for not only our first class instructors, but for our personalized approach to learning. We want to help you get all you can out of your time in Ecuador, whether you want to immerse yourself in learning Spanish, wish to combine Spanish lessons with volunteer experience, or combine Spanish classes with some Ecuadorian adventure; from the Amazon rain forest to the Galapagos Islands, we are here to help you customize your learning opportunities.

Great emphasis is placed on extra-curricula activities, from cultural experiences to excursions to locations of outstanding beauty; students will be given plenty of opportunity to practice their new language skills with the teachers, their new friends and guides. Instituto Superior de Español can provide first class instruction from beginner level through to advance. We are also able to tailor courses to meet specific needs; for example business Spanish.

Eugenio, the owner of the school, was so helpful to me. I am a single female traveling for a month in Ecuador. He picked me up from the airport, helped me ... view more organize my Galapagos trip and jungle trips (and got me discounts). I went on the one week traveling course to the sierra, have just got back- it was amazing and for me speaking Limited Spanish! (And zero confidence when speaking it.) It was perfect to travel on local buses, eat local food etc etc.

My Spanish has improved so much in one week, I learned more in one week than I did in 6 months doing evening classes in the UK. I would recommend people to do the 2-week traveling course if you have time. The school is nice in Quito too (where I am now) but I\'d recommend going on the road and seeing Ecuador.
Anyway, I\'ve got to go, one more thing- do bring warm clothes and thermals! (I took a mini hot water bottle, a godsend.) I\'m here in the middle of august, it\'s supposed to be the cool & dry period. It\'s very very cold in mountains!! Also, it\'s a lot of traveling and quite strenuous so make sure you\'re fit and you can handle getting up early (some buses leave at 3am!) Have a great trip and let me know if you have any questions, I\'m happy to write back!
