1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?
M18173 is a tour operator located in the Faroe Islands. The company was established in 2001. The main purpose was to offer visitors memorable experiences based on our fantastic nature, to meet the locals, and to learn about local culture and traditions.
2. What is your company's mission?
We are a Faroese travel agency specialising in travel packages to the Faroe Islands and selected destinations overseas. Our clients are knowledgeable, open-minded and curious, wanting a travel experience that develops them personally. In an effort to meet our client’s needs, we endeavour to offer travel adventures that are genuine, intense and excite all the senses. With dramatic and thrilling adventures, the traveller returns home with a unique story to tell.
3. What does your company specialize in?
We specialize in travels to the Faroe Islands for both individual and groups. Moreover, we offer combination packages including Iceland and Greenland.
4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?
The founder of the company are Mr. Marni Hjallnafoss and Mrs Fríðun Jacobsen. Mr. Hjallnafoss has approx. 30 years of experience in the tourism industry and has been working in the hotel and ferry industry and has also worked for travel agencies in the Faroe Islands. Mr. Hjallnafoss has a degree in Marketing. Mrs Jacobsen has approx. 25 years of experience in the tourism industry and has also been working in the hotel and ferry industry before establishing the company, Mrs. Jacobsen has studied languages and tourism - master in Experience Management. The local airline Atlantic Airways has interest in the company.
5. What is your most popular travel package and why?
Every year we introduce a new catalogue and our aim is to excite our visitors senses through authentic and intense travel experiences. This is done through our carefully planned travel packages. We want our visitors to experience the true destination. The most popular packages have been the classic tour, the best of the Faroe Islands, and the island hopping tour - giving visitors a unique opportunity to visit remote islands and to meet the locals. Other popular tours are the combination tours including either Iceland or Greenland. The reason why these combination tours are a popular choice is that visitors have the opportunity to visit different destination in the north. All unique in their own way. In 2012 we have introduced some new packages that we believe will be of interest to visitors, gourmet, hiking, birdwatching etc...
6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?
We get so many compliments from our guests who really have enjoyed the visit. Here is one example:

Deborah and I would like to thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. The meal last night was superb and gave us a chance to try some distinctive Faroese cuisine. Most of which we loved! Today we have driven to Esturoy across the 'bridge over the Atlantic'. That was exciting but the scenery was so breathtaking and the villages (especially Gjogv) were beautiful and charming. And that also sums up our impressions of your wonderful country - beautiful, windswept and totally charming.
