Enveloping historic charm with every imaginable modern convenience, our House was architecturally designed in 1914 for one of Picton's earliest Colonial settlers.
Your hosts Jeanne and Carl are genuine born & bred New Zealand Kiwis.Their great, great grandparents settled in the South Island. Having traveled internationally, they enjoy meeting guests from different cultures and both look forward to welcoming you to their home.Carl and Jeanne are both happy to share with you their local knowledge and passion for their amazing country.
Jeanne has a background in finance as a banking executive, an invaluable asset in the daily running of the house. She is very passionate about her garden and catering to the whims of their two cats Ashlee and Cuddles.
Carl, a designer and maker of fine furniture, loves restoring early New Zealand colonial furniture and old wooden clinker boats. He enjoys creating smaller craft items in his workshop from locally sourced recycled native timbers, which can be purchased by guests. Carl is happy to arrange shipping worldwide on request.
Together they enjoy bush walks and boating in the very heart of New Zealand's pristine mountains, forests, rivers, lakes and diverse coastline. The Milford, Heaphy, Wangapeka, Abel Tasman, Harper Pass and Queen Charlotte are just some of the amazing walking tracks they have enjoyed. Ask your hosts about the diverse range of local guided walks available right from the doorstep. |
