The day started with a pick up from the hotel of which i was staying at, in a very classy purpose built air conditioned 4WD. I was greeted by Dean our
... view more driver-guide, who knew everyone\'s name at short notice off by heart (very impressive).
First stop was the indigenous experience where you are taken through the mangroves by a local Aboriginal (Brandon) who shows you the art of catching a great fresh meal of seafood with a spear. This experience was amazing, as you walk through the mangroves you see all sorts of creatures like Stingrays, small Sharks, Crabs, all sorts of fish and plenty of other types of sea life. The great thing is you are involved all the time, spear in hand ready to let fly.
After the spearing session you take a short walk back to the family home where your days catch is prepared and cooked for you all by other family members. This was perfect after a busy morning. A great lunch was prepared for us all as we stepped off the boat, cold meat a salads with breads, simple easy but delicious.
We all board the 4WD for the final destination; we are off to a private property that has a stunning water fall with swimming area at the bottom. We all head on a short walk along a small river, the track is safe, the river is cute then out of nowhere there is this almighty water fall right there in front of you as you turn the corner.
My reaction was WOW thats big and powerful. By this stage you are ready for a swim right there below the fast running water fall. Back on the 4WD now and time to head home after a truly eye catching day. Great commentary is given by Dean throughout the day on board the 4WD.
The camera is a must, there are just some amazing shots that I will have for the rest of my life to remind me of this tour. |
