Horseback riding, wildlife viewing, and fly fishing in Colorado's Rocky Mountains.
1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?
The ranch has been providing Rocky Mountain adventures since 1937. The ranch was purchased by the Burleigh family in 1995, renovated, and re-opened to the public in 1997 as the Laramie River Ranch.
2. What is your company's mission?
It is our mission to continue the long history of family dude ranching in our corner of Colorado. To share the beauty of the Rockies, the joy of horseback riding, the history of the American Cowboy, and the wonder of our natural environment.
3. What does your company specialize in?
We're a small dude ranch that offers personal attention with an emphasis on education - well qualified and trained wranglers for the horse program and a full-time naturalist to help bring our natural environment alive through hikes and talks.
4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?
It was Krista Kaplan Burleigh's dream to operate a dude ranch from the time she mounted her first horse at the age of three. Krista worked toward the day she could bring similarly life transforming experiences to others.
5. What is your most popular travel package and why?
The most popular travel package is a week's stay. Shorter stays are possible, but the relationship one builds with their horse only grows the longer one has. Friendships are forged during adventures on the trail, on an overnight, or at the bonfire. We leave ourselves too little time these days for exploration and reflection.
6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?
The best compliments we receive are the tears on the cheeks of our guests when we hug goodbye. I know, that sounds "touchy feely" but it's hard to leave when you know it might be another year before you can return to "the ranch."
