Questions and Answers
M19790 is the only specialized Lithuanian incoming tour operator offering high quality cycling equipment and bicycle tours in the Baltic States (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia), Russia and Poland.

1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?

M19790 as a private company has been operating since 2008 but we started our business much earlier. We have always felt that bike tours are the best way to experience the Baltic States. The pace is perfect to explore towns and countryside, to meet people. We started 15 years ago with mass environmental bicycle rides in different regions of Lithuania which were followed by the Baltic Cycle tours covering several countries at the Baltic Sea.

2. What is your company's mission?

Our mission is to be the one-stop resource for high-quality cycling equipment and high-value bicycle tours in the Baltic States; supporting the Baltic Cycle culture, promoting healthy lifestyle and ecological thinking!

3. What does your company specialize in?

1. Bicycle tours in the Baltic Sea region (self-guided, escorted, semi-guided, city excursions, etc.) 2. Rental of quality bicycles and tourist equipment (more than 150 bicycles and trailers for their transportation).

4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?

Saulius Ruzinskas is the founder/owner of our company. Saulius has more than 15 years experience in bicycle tourism business and even more years in bicycle promotion which was the main topic of his university diploma projects and later activities at cyclists' and environmental NGOs. Before starting his own company Saulius was organizer/ tour leader of mass cycle rides in different regions of Lithuania, founder/ coordinator of the Baltic Cycle project, author of several cycle route maps, travel guidebooks and websites... and finally, active holidays product manager of one country's leading incoming tour operator.

5. What is your most popular travel package and why?

Guided cycling tour of the Baltics (Lithuania - Latvia - Estonia) is our most popular tour package due to it being an interesting route, travelling through very scenic areas (Baltic Sea Coast, national parks) and visiting three capital cities (Vilnius, Riga, Tallinn) with their old towns designated by UNESCO as the World Heritage Sites. It's also an excellent value tour package suitable for non-experienced cyclists who like riding with a multi-national group supported by an accompanying coach with bicycle trailer.

6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?

Recommending our bicycle tours to friends and coming next year with them.

Now we are back from a most interesting and well organized "Baltic Capital City" guided bicycle tour. My husband and I are so very satisfied with the ... view more whole tour. It was just what we expected except for some extra positive factors: of all our cycling guides we have had, Marius takes the lead! Such a pleasant, knowledgeable and diplomatic person ...and with such a good sense of humor - never have the two of us had so much fun along the roads and at the tables! He took the best care of "his" small English speaking group in the majority of "Germs". Linas was everywhere every time serving water, carrying luggage, honking the horn, waving from the bus...

Unfortunately, he did not speak English or German, but we came along quite well with body language at the table or elsewhere. His big and comfortable bus and the sturdy trailer are also the best means of transportation we have experienced. So, finally to get to the end of this short novel, you could not have planned a better tour for us ... and it was with great sadness I said goodbye.

2  Annemieke en Toon van der Putten Self-guided cycling tour in Lithuania and Latvia 2011-02-08
Hallo,
We are back in the Netherlands, and I can tell you that we enjoyed the trip very much. The hotels were good, some less than others, but over all it ... view more was fine. Sometimes we could not find the right way, but with the map and the description you gave us, sometimes asking, we came at time in the next town.
The weather was very good, one day we started in the rain, after one hour it stopped. The rain did fall only when we were sleeping during the night.

The last days it was really hot. In the Netherlands most of the people bike. You can see that this is different in your country. But the distances in our country are short.
There are just a few separate bike roads, so sometimes it is difficult and dangerous on the bike, as you told us already. In general the roads were not in the condition as we are used to so when you are planning to make a bike-trip in the Baltic states you should be aware of that item. In the south, along the river it was much better.

There are not much places along the road to rest, but we used the bus-stops, which is not ideal specially when the sun is very hot. We liked the countries, very silent and beautiful. In the towns we visited the museum and were impressed by reading the history and seeing the pictures of your troublesome past years and centuries. Over all it was an nice experience, that we enjoyed, with a very good organization.
Thank you again,
Best regards, pagarbiai, hartelijke groeten,
Annemieke en Toon van der Putten

Remarks from tour quality control questionnaire:
"Very efficient and smooth organization. This ensured we achieved maximum sightseeing, activities as ... view more well as cycling and bus. Trip leaders Marius and Laura were a great team! cheerful, helpful, patient...In both cities (Vilnius & Riga) the local guides were knowledgeable and passionate about their cities.

We chose not to have the food package and we were pleased with the food from the menu in the hotels." Suggestion for improving the holiday: "possibly extending the trip by 1-2 days to allow for a little more "Free time".

4  Jeroen Wehmeijer Self-Guided Cycling Tour in Lithuania and Latvia (Klaipeda-Riga) 2011-02-08
The two Kalkhoffs you delivered us at the 20th of July at nine o clock at the Old Mill Hotel in Klaipeda were very good bicycles.
They did a very good job ... view more along the 400km’s from Klaipeda to Riga. I did not need your electric bicycles because my injuries had healed a lot, but during the tracks longer than 70km with a temperature of more than 32 degrees Celsius, we now and then regretted that we had not chosen for them. The part in Lithuania is nicer than the track in Latvia, although after some time you get used to the very fast driving of the cars in Latvia, you never get used to the dogs that are chasing you from several farms. We want to thank you for the very good bicycles you rented us.

With kind regards, also from Willemijn Schretlen,
Jeroen Wehmeijer

Thanks for all your help with our Vilnius to Tallinn trip. It was a wonderful trip and Laura was a particularly good leader. We thought the trip was ... view more well-planned and executed and thoroughly enjoyed the others on the trip.
Thanks again,
Marie and Jim Allen
