1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?
2008 when we moved to "Wild Mountain Country" and realised that this was the perfect scenery, terrain and climate for outdoor activities.
2. What is your company's mission?
As well-qualified 'hands on' hosts and guides we pride ourselves in offering great hospitality, good local knowledge and tasty meals. Every trail is adapted to the specific needs and interests of the individual group thus ensuring customer satisfaction and a good safety record.
3. What does your company specialize in?
We specialise in tailor-made activity based holiday packages for all ages and levels of fitness including slackpacking hiking trails, cycle tours, fly-fishing, river rafting and 4x4 routes.
4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?
M19963 is formed and owned by Kate Nelson and Philip Harrison. Kate is an ex-pat from the UK so has an excellent understanding of the needs of foreign travellers to South Africa and takes great pleasure in planning the perfect mountain getaway for guests. She is passionate about wildlife and is FGASA qualified. Philip has over 20 years experience in the hospitality and catering trades, and is a very experienced mountain guide. M19963 has been regularly featured in South Africa’s leading travel magazines.
5. What is your most popular travel package and why?
Our MTB Cycling tour of the Eastern Cape passes. This is a unique opportunity to ride some of the highest roads in South Africa with stunning mountain views. The tour is accessible to all ages as we provide vehicle back-up if people need a rest.
6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?
We have cycled all over the world and this trail was the best by far. The only problem with it is that we’ll never find anything as good again!
