Any tour can be personalized to the needs and interests of the client.
1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?
I have operated independently since 2009, though I have experience in the tourism and tour guiding field since 2006. I decided that I wanted to have the freedom to arrange tours the way I felt was best and most fun for clients. I submitted my paperwork through the Washington, DC Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs and passed the required test, thereby receiving my official license to operate in the District of Columbia and neighboring areas.
2. What is your company's mission?
My mission is to arrange a tour to the individual needs of my clients, providing the most personalized experience to make the best of their visit to Washington. My aim is to be both educational and fun.
3. What does your company specialize in?
My company specializes in tours of the famous landmarks of the National Mall, including all of the Memorials, Monuments, White House, Capitol, and more. I also specialize in tours of Arlington National Cemetery, historic neighborhoods of Washington, including Georgetown, Capitol Hill, and Dupont Circle. I also provide tours of neighboring Old Town Alexandria. I have a Lincoln Assassination tour, and a "Ghost, Legend, and Conspiracy tour", as well as focuses on African American history, Civil War history, and general military history. I offer day and night tours, half and full day tours, and multiple day tours, for individuals, families, and groups.
4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?
I, Vera Medici, am the founder of M19964. I am currently a student at George Mason University, but have also studied at Sarah Lawrence College and Northern Virginia Community College. Though I have lived in other places, my family moved to the Washington, DC metro area when I was in 8th grade. I love the vibrancy and energy of the city and how history lives side-by-side with the modern, and sharing these things with visitors is very rewarding for me.
5. What is your most popular travel package and why?
My most popular package is a full-day walking/ Metro tour of Washington, DC’s famous Memorials and landmarks, including the Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam War Veterans Memorial, Korean War Memorial, World War II Memorial, Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, White House, Capitol, Library of Congress, and Supreme Court, with an added visit to Arlington National Cemetery.
6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?
Last year one of my guests wrote this review on a third-party website: "Vera is a great tour guide, we had a great day seeing all the sights of Washington, she was prompt, polite, and knowledgeable. Though we were pressed for time, Vera made sure we saw everything we wanted to...I would highly recommend Vera to anyone that is planning a visit to our nation's capital".
