Edwin Sabuhoro and Nyakairu Martha are co-founders of M20402 Agency, Professionally Edwin began working in Nyungwe and Akagera National Parks before joining the Rwanda Office of Tourism and National Parks (ORTPN) as Tourism Park Warden. Due to his efforts promoting professional tourism, ethics and standards at Volcanoes National Park, his contributions were highly lauded through the 2005 Government of Rwanda Recognition Award and Certificate delivered by Rwanda’s Prime Minister, Bernard Makuza. For seven months in 2006 he established and managed the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village in Musanze. Edwin also received the IUCN 2008 Young Conservationist Award, presented at the IUCN Congress in Barcelona, Spain. He continues in the role of expert advisor for the East African Community Tourism and Conservation Secretariat.
Edwin’s educational background includes a degree in Conservation Law from the National University of Rwanda, an MSc in Tourism & Conservation from the University of Kent in England and a Certificate in Eco-Tourism Management from George Washington University in the USA.
Martha Nyakairu has also been a key figure in the Rwandan tourism sector and champion of the principles and practices of eco-tourism. Martha holds a Post-graduate diploma in Marketing of Services from the Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands. Prior to her work with Eco-Tours, where she now serves as Chief Executive Director, she grew up in Uganda and Rwanda, earning a certificate in French and English language proficiency before claiming a BA Degree in Law from the National University of Rwanda in 2007.
