The Netherlands. A small country but absolutely stuffed with monuments and history.
The ideal way to discover all this beauty is on foot (in a city) or on a bicycle (in the countryside). So, guided day-trips and city walks on Dutch history and culture, mainly in Amsterdam, and in the surprisingly varied countryside around. However, as all day trips are perfectly tailor made, other towns or regions can be explored as well. The tours presented on InfoHub are therefore mere suggestions and examples.

The aim of company owner and guide Edmond Van Putte is to give you an insight in the fascinating history of this part of Europe. No dry history lessons. Instead very human stories, with man often blundering and causing disaster, and then making the best of it. Understanding this past also leads to a better understanding of the Netherlands today, with all its good and bad sides. There's even a fair chance that what once happened here influenced the history of the visitor's country as well.

Edmond is a graduate of Amsterdam School of the Arts, with a life long passion for history, and member of several historical societies. For many guests his day trips have proven to be an ideal introduction to the Netherlands and Europe.

For a tailor-made proposal, please feel free to send a mail with your fields of interest, places you would like to visit, and you'll receive a specified proposition.

6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?

With little notice, Edmond accommodated my schedule and created a customized trip based on my interests, the weather conditions for the day and available local activities (which in my case involved an operational windmill that was in use that day because of high winds and recent rains). In that respect, Edmond was like a private chef creating dinner from scratch using the best seasonal ingredients.

1  Fred Pritzker Great tour and excellent guide 2010-09-21
I had the pleasure of spending a day on tour with guide par excellence, Edmond, at GuideHolland in September 2010. Simply put, it was a wonderful experience ... view more that combined cycling, history and nature in exploration of the Amsterdam countryside. It was the highlight of my trip.

Edmond met me at the train station, arranged a bike rental and off we went. The bicycle was nearly new and an example of something rarely seen in the United States: a "city bike" perfect for long rides on flat terrain.

Edmond knows his Dutch history, geology, culture and natural history. He took me to medieval towns, heather fields, around seas, lakes and marshes, next to and on top of Holland’s ubiquitous dikes and the aforementioned working windmill. He brought along charts and visual aids to illustrate what he was talking about which helped orient the information. Most importantly, Edmond was a pleasant companion –the perfect guide for a memorable experience.

Spend a couple of days exploring Amsterdam, but don’t miss an opportunity like this one to see the countryside, get some good exercise and learn a lot about the history of this wonderful part of Europe. Fred Pritzker, Saint Paul, MN USA

Thank you for two wonderful days together. We thoroughly enjoyed your company and the information you shared with us and the delightful food and treats. Few ... view more tourists get to experience and see what we did. The bike rides were awesome, even though we were a little saddle sore after the last ride. But I\'ll have to get back into shape, that\'s all.
We thought that the money we spent on these very personalized day trips was worth every single cent.

We were just looking over photos with my mother and the kids repeatedly named our tour with you as a trip highlight. Castles and windmills and ice cream, all ... view more noteworthy.
I really don\'t know of any other tour or vacation activity I\'ve done that was anything like that. The scenery, the great guiding, getting to know the land and the history - very memorable.
