China Journeys offer a refreshing alternative to the standard tours available in China.

We believe that quality pays and therefore focus on providing all-inclusive packages with no unpleasant surprises; no hidden charges and no unwanted deviations from the declared itineraries to earn commissions.

We use our ten years of experience in-country and accumulated knowledge of the tourist opportunities here to create a range of standard packages that offer more balance and provide you with a more interesting China experience. Yes - the highlights are important but so often the lesser sites are the more memorable. These are the ones without crowds and where you can feel a little bit special.

We consider meal times to be one of the greatest cultural experiences especially as the food in China is so exotic and varied. The same dish can be prepared in different restaurants on the same street in completely different ways - all delicious. We limit our group size such that everyone can sit down to dinners at the same table with their local guide on hand. Good company makes for wonderful meals, and having explanations and questions answered from a knowledgeable source just adds to the pleasure.

1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?

Our company was founded in 2009. It started with a walk along the Li River and a long chat with the local agent I had known and respected since I first arrived in China.

2. What is your company's mission?

We strive to deliver quality travel packages that offer a mix of highlights and more unusual sites/activities for added interest.

3. What does your company specialize in?

Being based in China and with a strong network of local contacts we specialize in travel opportunities that are new and exciting. We are ahead of the pack and aim to stay that way.

4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?

Ian arrived in China as a tour leader in 2001. In 2003 he became the regional manager with responsibilities that eventually came to include China, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Central Asia and Trans-Mongolian rail trips. He finished at the end of 2007 with a thorough grounding in tour operations and an extensive knowledge of the tourism opportunities in China.

5. What is your most popular travel package and why?

Our most popular travel packages have been the in-depth city Reviews and imaginative Extensions. Feedback suggests this is because travelers really like the flexibility offered both in terms of programs and dates. We continue to expand the range accordingly.
