1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?
M20862 was founded in 1990 by Frank Stelmach and his son Kevin. We both have been avid hunters and fishermen and after six consecutive summers of fishing in Alaska decided to open a self guided fishing lodge providing the necessities for the average fisherman to enable them to enjoy the Alaskan Experiences that we had enjoyed. We are located in the Alaska Tongass National Park (16.7 million acres) in the Inside Passage on Wrangell Narrow just south of Petersburg. The protection of the islands allow our clients calmer sea for salt water fishing and several rivers for fresh water fishing. Halibut is done in shallow water, (20-90 feet) and there are five different runs of Pacific Salmon during the summer months. King, Sockeye, Chum, Pink and Coho Salmon, Dungeness Carab, Halibut, Cod. Flounder, Yellow Eye and other rock fish are available to those searching for a fishing adventure.
