Questions and Answers
From our base in Chamonix Mont Blanc we provide guided trekking tours and hiking holidays in the Alps.
1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?
In a market dominated by large adventure travel companies who sell standardised trips by the thousands and use third party providers to deliver their services, we felt there was a need for a small company who would focus on a specific area that they know very well and are truly passionate about. On this basis M21225 was born in 2007.
2. What is your company's mission?
M21225 is a small, dynamic company who focus on offering trekking and hiking tours in the Alps with focus on a friendly and personalised experience of the highest quality and at competitive prices. We believe that a hiking or trekking holiday is not just about the physical activity but also very much about exploring the local culture and making our participants' precious time off as enjoyable as possible. We are committed to running our business and our tours in a way that minimises the negative impacts on the environment.
3. What does your company specialize in?
We specialize in running trips in the Alps. We focus on running trips in small groups led by friendly and truly professional guides who know the areas we visit very well. The trips we schedule are chosen because we feel they offer something unique in the world of alpine trekking. Our specialities include the Tour du Mont Blanc and the Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt. In addition to our scheduled trips, we are also known for our private guiding and tailor-made trips where flexibility and personal touch is important.
4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?
M21225 was founded by Mark Jensen. Born in Scandinavia, Mark moved to the UK early on to study and pursue a corporate career. After 10 years of battling the balance between corporate life and the mountains, the mountains won and he moved to Chamonix in the French Alps where he founded M21225. Over the years, he has trekked, climbed, skied and mountain biked in mountains from wild Alaska in the West to the mighty Himalayas in the East, and quite a lot in between. He is certified as an International Mountain Leader (member of UIMLA) and an Alpine Ski and Telemark instructor (member of ISIA). In addition to running the day to day operations of M21225, he’s out in the mountains guiding and instructing most days, summer and winter. He wouldn’t want to be anywhere else...
5. What is your most popular travel package and why?
The Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB) is without a doubt our most popular tour. And not without reason; the tour has roots back to 1758 when early pioneers completed the first circumnavigation of the Mont Blanc massif. Passing through three alpine countries - Switzerland, France and Italy - the tour offers varied and interesting trekking with some of the most stunning alpine scenery. The tour can be done in parts over a long weekend or completed in whole during anything from 6 to 12 days, which makes it flexible and achievable for most. It’s easy to see why the Tour du Mont Blanc is considered one of the most famous trekking tours in the world.
6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?
Every time a client joins us for another trip, we consider it the best compliment we could ever receive.
