1  Joe Giorgianni My experience 2012-03-30
The language school that I found to be superior to any that I have attended is M5243, located in Antigua, Guatemala. There are other schools in Antigua, as well ... view more as throughout the rest of the country and other Latin countries. But none that would equal the quality of teachers, beauty, and safety of facilities and opportunities to learn Spanish that I was able to learn in just three weeks at M5243.

The school, founded by professional teachers who saw the need to provide a quality education at a reasonable cost, offers more than six-thousand square feet of space for not only class rooms, but for apartments and individual rooms, all with private bathrooms. Also provided is a well-equipped kitchen for those who would prefer to do their own cooking. Cooked meals are available, if requested, at a nominal cost. Also provided is a computer room providing free Internet, complete with Wi-Fi access, twenty-four hours a day. There are multiple computers provided at no charge that allow the student to stay in touch with family and friends by e-mail without ever leaving the campus.

One of the main reasons a student learns so quickly at M5243, is that there are no textbooks. Language is communication, and at this school only Spanish is spoken, allowing students to start learning from the very first day. All students are urged to partake in the many cultural events in the area, including visiting and studying the many ruins of some of the great cathedrals of the past. M5243, a school for learning Spanish...a language that is becoming increasingly important to U.S. Citizens. If you want to learn a language that is becoming a part of our daily lives, you would be ahead of the pack by checking them out...pronto.

2  Ralph McCuen My visit to Antigua 2012-03-30
This letter concerns my visit to Antigua, Guatemala during the period 14 June to 11 July 2009. Let me preface my remarks by saying that if have been visiting ... view more countries in Latin American for many years and have been a student at schools in those countries. My primary purpose in visiting Guatemala was to learn more Spanish. I have a small tourism company in Colombia, and it always helps to increase your understanding of the language.

I attended the M5243 for the princely sum of $880. This included four hours of classes each day, five days a week, for four weeks, and a home stay with a local family which fed me three times a day at no additional charge. I venture to say that no place on earth offers this type of first class treatment at bargain basement prices. The school is unique in all of Latin American in that there are no classrooms. You sit on a terrace or in a beautiful garden with just a desk and your instructor. If there is too much sun, or rain, up goes the huge beach umbrella to protect you.

I don’t think you could ask for a more salutary location for learning a foreign language. The teachers all have one goal in mind: creating in you a desire to know more about both their language and their culture. My fellow students ranged in age from the children of other students to people of school. Just one big happy family. The staff of the school goes out of their way to help you in any way possible. Have you ever been anywhere where the school personnel wash, dry and iron your clothes for $3.00 per bag full. When you arrive in country there are some great folks in a huge van who hold up a large sign with your name on it. The trip to Antigua is a short hour with no problems whatsoever.
