Owned and operated by Dottor Silvestro Silvestori, an Italian-American, formally educated in both countries, the school offers culinary programs for a variety of tastes and budgets.
M05354 is a small, intimate Italian cooking school in the prettiest town in the entire sunny, south of Italy (and the region's only full-time cooking school, in either language). Here folks smile when they see you, ask where you’re from. We’re located in the gorgeous, baroque city of Lecce, the vibrant cultural capital of the Salento, the stiletto heal of Italy’s famous boot. Widely acknowledged inside of Italy as having the best produce, healthiest and most intriguing cuisine, and the warmest, most gregarious and welcoming people, it's where Italy itself comes to holiday. Ask an Italian about Puglia and you're likely to hear a pleasurable sigh.
Puglia is delightful - yet unknown to most non Italians. Housed in a 18th century palace in the center of a walled city, our school offers an Italian cooking class to fit every budget: hands-on Day, Weekend and Week-long classes are available. Each day, in addition to the active communal cooking lesson, we'll take trips to the sea and the countryside, we'll attend tasting and take walking trips to small, folksy markets, the fruits of which we'll share under the fig tree in our walled city garden. You'll perfect our fresh, local pastas, one little, hand-made shape at a time and master the sauces based on the world-famous olive oil. You'll grill seafood, bake biscotti, can a season's bounty and much, MUCH MORE. Then we'll gather around the table with an international mix of guests and students and dine in leisure in the open air of the garden in the Mediterranean fashion.
Not that it's only about Mediterranean seafood and our organic house wine, here in Lecce you'll also gain context, learn to see the ongoing local dialogs between art and food, history and language, religion and place, and how any real understanding need always be systemic. We offer more than a cooking vacation, we offer an experience.
We're small and intimate - we limit our classes to only six participants- and we're certainly inexpensive (the best way we know to make it available to nearly everyone). With cooking schools in Italy, now you have an alternative. |
