Whitewater Rafting, Mountain Biking, Family trips, Women's Retreats and Specialty Trips since 1966.
1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?
The first time Dee Holladay’s friend took him down the river, a lifelong passion began. After one-trip, Dee began running Utah’s rivers on a regular basis, delving into magnificent landscapes, grand canyons, and lively waters. In 1966 Dee and his wife, Sue, decided to become river outfitters. At first it was Holladay Expeditions, but the celebration of being on the river (not to mention the confusion in name spelling) inspired the new name of M06502. Since then, Dee and Sue have spent more than 100 days on the river each year sharing their hospitality and wilderness insight with Holiday guests.
2. What is your company's mission?
It is the goal of M06502 to preserve our nation’s wild lands. Holiday will provide our guests an enjoyable wilderness experience with an opportunity to learn about the natural world, and through this awareness encourage the preservation of wild places and cultural treasures. We will accomplish this through: Diligent Training; Meaningful Interpretation; Innovative Equipment and Facilities; Responsible Stewardship of the Land; and Environmentally Sound Business Practice.
3. What does your company specialize in?
Whitewater Rafting, Mountain Biking, Women's River Retreats, Family Rafting and Specialty River Trips.
4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?
Dee Holladay - A curious and intrigued person, Dee has always educated himself about the rivers and all the life the river supports cultural, historical and ecological. Dee’s foresight in river conservation led to his unique outfitting practices and policies that are incorporated into all of Holiday’s trips and have now been adopted by the National Parks and other land management agencies in the West for their "Leave No Trace" requirements of outfitters.
5. What is your most popular travel package and why?
Family River Vacations - Without interruptions and distractions of soccer practice, television, homework, the Internet and telephones, it’s amazing what families can learn about each other. Escaping on an outdoor adventure allows families to get back to basics and the core of relationships. Children and parents are introduced to new environments, people and activities. Sharing these new experiences together allows families to adapt and develop common bonds.
6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?
My two sons and I recently completed a four day raft trip on the San Juan river with you. We want to commend the outstanding service provided by our guides. Their knowledge of the area, constant hard work, efficiency and good cheer made the trip truly outstanding. It is guides like that who will bring us back to M06502! - Andy Baldwin, WY
