British Columbia offers a kayaking experience like none other – stunning vistas, lush temperate rain forests, long sandy beaches, incredible wildlife, and vast wilderness areas. Simply put, British Columbia is one of the premiere destinations for sea kayaking in the world. Everything comes together here; an extensive maze of islands, rich First Nations culture, extraordinary wildlife encounters with orcas, humpback whales, bears, eagles and much, much more

We are located in Port McNeil on Northern Vancouver Island, and our tours operate in the waters of Vancouver Island, Haida Gwaii, and the Great Bear Rainforest.

We have chosen Vancouver Island as our home, and as we enter our 14th year of operation, we hope you will join us on a kayaking trip of a lifetime. Our Kayak Tours offer something for everyone.
Questions and Answers
Sea kayaking tours designed to responsibly view orcas, humpback whales, porpoises, sea lions, seals, and so much more in their natural environment.

1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?

We have been running fully outfitted guided kayak tours on the coast of British Columbia since 1999. We are based in Port McNeill and run kayak tours here on northern Vancouver Island but also further north in the Great Bear Rainforest and Haida Gwaii.

2. What is your company's mission?

We have five basic principles to ensure we are "doing what is right". Let us tell you how we are: 1. Doing what is right for the environment. 2. Doing what is right for the wildlife. 3. Doing what is right for our communities. 4. Doing what is right for our staff. 5. Doing what is right for our guests.

3. What does your company specialize in?

We pride ourselves on small group sizes, allowing close personal attention and minimal impact on the environment and the wildlife we view from our kayaks. Our maximum group size is 8 guests with 2 guides, which is a lower ratio than most of the industry.

4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?

With over 20 years of kayaking on both the east and west coasts of Canada plus the Caribbean, Andrew eagerly shares his passion for kayaking and the wilderness with our guests. Andrew takes an active roll in the improvement of training and certification of sea kayak guides, operating standards for tour companies and the overall health of the kayak guiding industry. Andrew is a past president of the Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of British Columbia, chairs the SKGABC Operating Standards Committee, sits on the Industry/Government Joint Steering Committee on Guided Adventure Tourism and is president of the North Island Marine Mammal Stewardship Association. Andrew is a Certified Level 3 Sea Kayak Guide with the Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of British Columbia and a Level 1 Sea Kayak Instructor and Level 4 Sea Kayak Skills with the Paddle Canada.

5. What is your most popular travel package and why?

Our 4 day Orca Waters Base Camp provides fantastic wildlife viewing opportunities with that extra bit of comfort and luxury. Tents are already set up when you arrive, there is no need to pack kayaks during the trip, and we have a covered kitchen and dining area, propane heated shower, and solar powered camera re-charging station for your convenience.

6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?

"I was gobsmacked by just how much amazing wildlife we did see. Everyday was a huge list of orcas, whales, dolphins, seals, birds, deer, bears, fish, sea life and the vast amount of amazing landscapes and views blows your mind. The staff, especially Andrew, were so friendly and accommodating and wonderful company to be around for our 4 day base camp trip. The camp was wonderful, fully stocked and comfortable with just the right amount of wild-v-homely and beautifully crafted by the team. I have never been fed so well in the woods in my life. Andrew cooked amazing selection of foods for breakfast, lunch and tea each day and was not fazed by vegetarians or dietary needs, as a coeliac I was worried but I was fed very very well. The kayaking itself was spectacular and I have a gazillion photos to prove it".
