Snorkeling is a safe, easy, and enjoyable activity for participants of all ages and skill levels -- from young people to grandparents -- and is ideal for families. With snorkeling, the underwater world becomes accessible without the need for heavy scuba gear or special certification. Simply put on a mask, dip your face beneath the surface, and you can open an unforgettable window of wonder!
Unfortunately for snorkeling enthusiasts, most tropical resorts cater to the needs of SCUBA divers rather than snorkelers. A typical, frustrating scenario for independent snorkelers: You arrive at a remote, tropical resort and find that SCUBA divers are provided with dive boats, while you are limited to just those spots you can reach from the beach -- often missing the best locations. While shore snorkeling can be excellent, many of the most exciting snorkeling sites are more easily accessed by boat. Or, if you're lucky, you may be permitted to "tag along" on a dive boat, but are firmly instructed to stay out of the way of the divers. And when the dive is over, so is your snorkel.
Snorkeling when -- and where -- you want! On M08317 programs, we charter boats exclusively for our groups. We dictate the timing and location, picking the most ideal sites for snorkeling, not diving. This allows us -- as snorkelers -- to experience and indulge in some of the world's most spectacular underwater treasures.
Our Programs are Educational -- and Fun!
Responsible snorkeling offers one of the least intrusive, yet most intimate interactions possible with any wilderness environment. To enhance your safety and enjoyment, M08317 programs incorporate educational opportunities to refine your snorkeling skills and further develop your understanding of the marine ecosystem.
Discoveries made in the water are complemented by informative interpretative sessions lead by staff leaders and guest speakers. Whenever possible, we integrate local expertise into our programs – inviting contributions from university professors, marine park managers, village chiefs, and fishermen.
On M08317 programs, you will also experience the natural and cultural history of each destination we visit. While the emphasis is on appreciation of the marine environment through the joy of snorkeling, we believe it's important to respect and interact with local cultures.
To broaden our understanding of local communities, we organize and implement group visits to marine labs, schools, villages, archeological sites, and industrial facilities such as fish packing plants, or sugar cane mills.
Today many opportunities are available to better recognize the beauty and wonder of our aquatic wilderness: excellent television documentaries and films, a growing number of superb aquariums and interpretative facilities, and many outstanding books and periodicals. However, the best way to appreciate the underwater world is by simply putting on a mask and getting wet. Snorkeling is one of the easiest, safest, and most delightful ways to enjoy the water.
