Questions and Answers
Fishing, adventure travel and wildlife viewing trips on Alaska's best rivers.

1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?

2011 was our 33rd year as guides to Alaska's rivers which makes us one of the oldest and most respected guide services in the state. We started out running wild rivers all across Alaska and added a full service fishing lodge in Cooper Landing just over 20 years ago.

2. What is your company's mission?

To teach our guests to take what Mother Nature gives us and in a safe and environmentally friendly way, have as much fun as possible.

3. What does your company specialize in?

Fly fishing for salmon and trout (spin too) Wilderness River expeditions, Wildlife viewing trips - especially for bears. Rare permits let us guide you to places few others can.

4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?

The old man and company owner is George Heim, one of the founders. He doesn't guide as much as he used to but serves on several boards that protect the rivers, fish and wildlife that Alaska is blessed with.

5. What is your most popular travel package and why?

The 5 day/ 6 night full service lodge package... as the population has gotten older the idea of a series of different adventures each day and a soft bed and hot shower each evening has gotten more popular than the wild river expeditions (even though those are pretty much 'catered camping'). Plus the variety of things you can do from the lodge is nearly endless so that too has its appeal - especially for families or groups with mixed interests.

6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?

When guests who say "never have we ever repeated a vacation" become one of our regular groups that come back every year.
