M09457 is an international organization of sophisticated travelers who prefer going by rail. Our business was founded in 1983, and we offer the most hands-on experience on deluxe and luxury trains of any agency in the world. Every year, we release the World's Top 25 Trains list, and we organize journeys on them. We offer first-class, luxury and steam rail trips. Favorites include: Trans-Siberian Express by Private Train, Cross-Canada, Paris to Istanbul on the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express and Cape Town to Dar es Salaam on the Pride of Africa. Our expertise in the field expands to all types of trains and many regions of the world. This upcoming year we are offering tours in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and South America.

The Society also publishes a magazine: "The International Railway Traveler" - a subscription of which is complimentary for all travelers with IRT. ($85 value). IRT has writers all over the world and has been recommended by a long and prominent list of media. These include Frommer's Europe by Rail, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune and The Boston Globe, as well as television and radio travel shows such as "Dining Around with Gene Burns" in San Francisco and "The Travel Channel" on cable television. Due to the quality and success of our newsletter, the Society has developed exceptional relationships with train companies worldwide. This means our travelers often receive special treatment – from discounts to upgrades and sincere, personal attention.

We are a member of ASTA, endorsed by IATA, and part of ASTA's "TOP" Tour Operator Program, a member of the BBB with an A+ rating. we offer group tours and individual touring on all the world’s great trains: from South Africa’s Blue Train and Rovos Rail, to Scotland’s Royal Scotsman, to India’s Deccan Odyssey, to the Danube Express in Europe, just to name a few.

1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?

M09457 began in 1983 as a travel magazine. In 1991, we organized a rail tour for our readers. Since then, we have offered rail tours all over the world.

2. What is your company's mission?

Our mission is to offer high-quality tours and top-notch service, from the minute you contact our office to the minute your return from your trip. And begin planning the next one!

3. What does your company specialize in?

Luxury trains, first-class trains, steam and railfan tours.

4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?

The owners of our company are Owen & Eleanor Hardy, who together have traveled on most of the world's great trains. Owen Hardy began publishing our magazine, The International Railway Traveler, in 1983. Owen fell in love with trains and transit when studying in Germany.

5. What is your most popular travel package and why?

Trans-Siberian Express by Private Train, because it is such an epic route. The private train is very comfortable and the off-train activities are diverse and interesting.

6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?
