M09871 focuses exclusively on the Pyrenees Orientales region of France where the Pyrenees sweep down into the Mediterranean on the border with Spain. It was established in January 2003 after 2 years of restoration work on our properties and thousands of miles exploring the wonderful cycling opportunities. The two partners in the business, Jan Teede and Tim Wetmore, have over 20 years experience in the hospitality industry and are sports and outdoor activity fanatics. Much of the 20 years experience gained has been in the top end of the African safari industry so you can expect any trip to have a touch of something different as we bring the same standards to this beautiful and rugged corner of France. In the last 2 years, the ability to speak fluent French has ensured a complete integration with the local population which we have found essential to discovering some of the hidden treasures which we would like to share with you.
Our week long tours are centrally based in one of our beautifully restored properties that retain all of the charm of their 250 year Catalan tradition. This means there is no packing and unpacking each day, yet such is the diversity of the region that within close proximity we can ride in the high Pyrenees, along the Mediterranean coast or through the abundant vineyards. Being right on the border it is also as easy to visit Spain as it is to ride in France. The lodges are situated in the Pyreneen Mountains but only 60 km from the Mediterranean Sea and just 25km from the Spanish border. They are all built in the traditional Catalan stone and all bedrooms include ensuite bathroom. Outside, your meals will be taken on one of the sunny terraces or next to the swimming pool. In the evening, we often make sure you get out visiting some of the fantastic local restaurants.
