My company organizes customized walking and wine tours for small groups, in Europe. I have been running walking tours for fifteen years. I started my own business twelve years ago. At the present time destinations include:

I also offer special interest tours and self-guided walking tours. As well as running my own trips I have worked with Susan Eckert of Adventure Women. Over the last twelve years I have organized and led trips for her in Italy, France, Spain and Scotland. I offer a completely personalized service to my clients. I research and lead all my trips personally. I customize all of my trips to meet my clients’ particular interests, time frame, budget and level of fitness. No group is too small.

I have lived in Europe for 25 years. I know the areas I walk in very well and over the yearsI have also built up a large network of local contacts. I have qualifications in the areas of both food and wine. I have completed my wine diploma in London. (WSET Dip. of Wine) I love sharing this special knowledge with my clients. This combination of in-depth local knowledge, experience and the personal touch make my trips truly special. I have a small company which organizes customized and scheduled walking tours for small groups, in Europe.

1. How long has the business been operating and how did it start?

I have been in business since 1998. I worked for a big tour company and realised I could do better and provide a more personal service for clients who were looking for a personalised walking vacation.

2. What is your company's mission?

My aim to is provide my clients with a memorable walking hiking holiday which can be customized to meet their particular interests. I am aim to take my clients off the beaten track and provide them with experiences they could not get travelling on their own.

3. What does your company specialize in?

I specialize in customized walking and wine holidays in Europe for groups of four or more.

4. Who is the founder or owner of the company and briefly describe his/her past activities?

The owner of the company is myself Gillian Arthur. Born in the UK, brought up in Australia and Italian resident for 25 years. I have been working in the travel business for 20 years and have a major interest in wine. I am a certified Wine Educator and have the Diploma in Wine from WSET (London)

5. What is your most popular travel package and why?

My most popular package in 2011 was a wine and walking tour to Burgundy. It is popular because clients are becoming more interested in wine and walking packages.

6. What is the best compliment you received from a client?

I organised a family trip to the Dolomites for a group of 18- the youngest was 3 months and the oldest 79 and this is what they had to say: Every one had a really wonderful time. For Max and me it was the trip of a life time, having all our children share it with us. You did an amazing job for us!! I know it was difficult with the age span and the numbers, but you took care of us all young and old. The walks, hotels, food and everything were outstanding. Sarah had worried about bringing the children, but found all was well, with your expert planning and they are so glad they came. Max and I thank you very, very much for making this trip so special.
