Leaving from Nova Scotia and traveling through New Brunswick, Quebec, Labrador and Newfoundland.

Your Itinerary

Day 1: We travel from Halifax, N.S. to Matane, Quebec on the St. Laurence river. This is an interesting days drive through Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and the Gaspe Bay Peninsula of Quebec. We will spend the night at Matane.

Day 2: We cross the St. Laurence river by ferry (2.5 hours) to Bay Comeau where we stop for a bit of shopping. We then proceed to the Daniel Johnson dam (largest arch dam in the world)for a guided tour. This is a leisurely days drive through the scenic Laurentian mountains where we stop often to explore and take pictures.

Day 3: We continue our leisurly drive through the mountains to Labrador City.stopping often at various points of interest for pictures and lunch. We spend the night camping at Grand Hermine or at a hotel in Labrador City (your choice).

Day 4: We spend this day at Grand Hermine where we hike, canoe, take nature walks, sightsee or just relax. There are many scenic sights and good hiking trails.

Day 5: We leave for Churchill Falls where we will hike in to see the original falls (twice as high as Niagara)We will be making many scenic stops along the way. We check into the hotel here. Then we can take a guided tour of one of the largest hydro generating plants in the world and a tour of the town.

Day 6: On the road to Goose Bay-Happy Valley which is a full days drive. We stop for a wilderness lunch along the way. We will also take a short hike into muskrat falls on the mighty Churchill River. We also stop at many scenic and interesting spots along the way including a short hike in to Muskrat Falls. We will stay at a bed and breakfast in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

Day 7: We take a tour of The town of Goose-Bay Happy Valley and drive to West River for a tour of The Hudson's Bay Company museum and the Labrador Heritage Museum. We return to Goose Bay in time to board the ferry for Cartright on the Labrador coast. This is a 12 hour voyage. Staterooms are provided.

Day 8: We arrive in Cartright and travel down the newly constructed coastal road to Lanse Aux Claire and Red Bay where we view the 16th century Basque whaling station museum. We will also stop at the oldest know gravesite in North America.(an archaic indian gravesite 7000 years old)We will stay at the Northern Lights Inn in Lanse Aux Claire where we will dine from their traditional menu.

Day 9: We travel across the Strait of Belleisle to Lanse Aux Meadows national park (a UNESCO World Heritage Site)Where we will view the original 1000 year old Viking site.
We then can take a short drive into St. Anthony and tour the Grenfell museum and other interesting stops along the way.

Day 10: We travel to Gros Morne National Park which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the breathtaking scenery is second to none.We will spend 2 nights here (B)

Day 11: We spend exploring Gros Morne. Wildlife is plentiful and we almost always see Moose and Caribou along with spectacular scenery.

Day 12: We travel to Port Aux Basque where we board the Ferry to North Sydney, Nova Scotia and the world famous "Cabot Trail" One of the most picturesque drives on the Atlantic seaboard. We spend the first night in or near North Sydney
Day 13: We travel through the Cabot Trail.(You will need lots of film for your camera for this one.)We will stay at or near Canso at a B&B
Day 14: We have a leisurely drive back to Halifax through beautiful Northern Nova Scotia stopping often at different points of interest. Please note that due to ferry schedules this tour can sometimes take an additional day.

Airfare is not included in the tour price.
