This very active week gives you a good overlook over the adventures you can enjoy in the Yukon. This is an itinerary for the traveler who does not have much time, or as an addition to a RV vacation.
Your Itinerary Day 1: Arrival on the Whitehorse airport. You will be picked up from us by van and we make a tour through Whitehorse. Visit of the Beringia Museum and transfer to the Blue Kennels base camp, 50 km along the Alaska Highway. The dogs are anxiously waiting to give you a warm welcome, they will be all over you, bring old clothes. You will move in your guest log cabin. In the evening feeding of 80 Huskies and preparations to start with 18 to 22 dogs on the training cart. A burst of power and we fly down the trail. Included: (L), (D). Day 2: Early in the morning we will leave with the mountain bike to explore the Sifton Range. After 15km we reach the trailhead where we can decide to hike up the Sifton Range or take a different bike route up. Overnight in tent close to the lake. Included: (B), (L), (D). Day 3: Today we explore 37 Mile Lake, we have time to fish and may be lucky to catch a nice lake trout. In the afternoon we bike back to the Blue Kennels base camp and spend the night in the log cabins. There are always a bunch of puppies waiting for our attention. Included: (B), (L), (D). Day 4: 35 km Transfer to the Kusawa Lake with our truck. We start our canoe trip on the Lake, after 3 kilometers we enter the swift moving Takhini River. There is no white water except one set of rapids which easily can be portaged, but driving it is even more fun. Over night in Blue Kennels cabins or the canoe trip can be extended to an overnight trip with a tent. Included: (B), (L), (D). Day 5: This day can be used as a rest day, a hiking day with our Huskies or as an additional paddling day for the Takhini River. Overnight in Blue Kennels cabin. Included: (B), (L), (D). Day 6: In the morning we drive to Haines Junction. Start of a two day hiking trip at Dezadeash Lake. We have the option to spend the night at the Armstrong Hay Ranch and enjoy rancher Murphy’s hospitality or spend the night in a tent in Kluane Park. Included: (B), (L), (D). Day 7: We return from our hike and late afternoon we drive back to Blue Kennels. Here the dogs are waiting for us and we hook up a team and enjoy a training ride. This day we also have the possibility to take a spectacular glacier flight, at extra cost. Included: (B), (L). Day 8: Southbound flight or even better, you continue with another program offered.
