Your Itinerary: Day 1: Madrid Arrival to Madrid the dynamic capital of Spain. Make your own transportation arrangements to hotel (Transfer can be provided upon request). Check into hotel anytime after 2:00pm. On this evening we meet in the hotel lobby (meeting time: 7:30pm). Introduction to the group and tour orientation. Leaving the hotel for an evening panoramic tour of Madrid before dinner. Enjoy a "Welcome Dinner & Live Flamenco Dancing Show" in a traditional restaurant. Overnight in Madrid. Includes: (D). Day 2: Madrid - Exploring The City's Important Monuments Breakfast. Morning visit of the Prado Museum and the Royal Palace. Rest of the day at leisure to explore the city. Lunch & Dinner on your own. Overnight in Madrid. Includes: (B). Day 3: Madrid - Alcala De Hernares - Sigüenza - Soria - Logroño - Santo Domingo De La Calzada Breakfast. The first stop of the day to visit Alcala de Hernares, with its University founded in 1498 by Cardenal Cisneros. Visit the Cathedral in Siguenza. Lunch in the magnificent 12th century Castle Of Siguenza, Once a Moorish fortress that became a bishop's palace and now a spectacular Parador hotel. After lunch continue on to Soria, visit the ruins of the Celtiberian city of Numancia, which is situated above the river Duero 8 kms from Soria. This city was of great historical importance due to the Celts determined resistance against Roman domination for several years, finally falling after a long siege in 133 BC. Entering into La Rioja passing through Logroño and finishing the day in Santo Domingo de la Calzada. Transfer to hotel. Free time before dinner. Dinner in hotel with traditional Riojan cuisine and fine wines. Overnight in Santo Domingo de la Calzada. Includes: (B), (L), (D). Day 4: Santo Domingo De La Calzada - La Rioja, Visit Selected Wineries & Monumental Cities Breakfast. In the morning leave for Haro to visit a wine museum and the famous Riojan winery Bodegas Muga in the sub-zone Rioja Alta of the Denomination of Origin La Rioja. Next stop in Laguardia village, located in the sub-zone Rioja Alvesa of the D.O. La Rioja, and is part of the Basque Country. Visit the old quarter of this quaint wine town and the winery Bodega El Fabulista, with an underground cellar. Lunch in a well-renown restaurant of Pousada Mayor De Migueloa, also a winery with excellent wines which, will accompany our meal. After lunch make a stop in the small wine town of Elciego, to visit the famous winery of Marques De Riscal. The first winery in the region built along French lines by the technician Jean Pineau in 1868. It is also in the sub-zone Rioja Alvesa. The rest of the day we pass by villages of the French Pilgrimage Way To Santiago in La Rioja. Drive through La Rioja wine countryside until reaching San Millan De La Cogolla, to visit the Human Heritage monasteries of Suso and Yuso, birthplace of Castilian language. Ending the day back in Santo Domingo de La Calzada. Dinner in hotel with traditional Riojan cuisine and fine wines. Overnight in Santo Domingo de la Calzada. Includes: (B), (L), (D). Day 5: Santo Domingo De La Calzada - Burgos - Carrion De Los Condes - Sahagun - Leon Breakfast. Today leaving La Rioja of following along the French Pilgrimage Way to Santiago in Castilla Y Leon. In the morning visit Burgos, with its impressive cathedral and old quarter. Continuing on passing through many small pilgrimage villages stopping in Carrion De Los Condes for lunch in the elegant restaurant of a Pilgrimage Monastery. After lunch continue on to Leon, visit the cathedral & old quarter of the city. Free time before dinner. Dinner unique underground wine cellar restaurant serving traditional Castillan cuisine and fine wines. Overnight in Leon. Includes: (B), (L), (D). Day 6: Leon - Astorga - Molinaseca - Ponferrada - Villafranca Del Bierzo Breakfast. In the morning stop in Astorga to visit the Cathedral and Episcopal Palace which houses the pilgrimage museum de los Caminos. On the way out of Foncebadon stop at La Cruz de Ferro (The Iron Cross). After crossing the Pilgrims Bridge stop for lunch in a tavern located in the pilgrimage village of Molinaseca. Continue on stopping in Ponferrada to visit the Templar Castle and the Iron Bridge. Ending the day in Villafranca Del Bierzo, visit the old quarter. Free time before dinner. Dinner in a unique restaurant constructed as a Celtic thatched-roofed house offering local cuisine & Mencia wines. Overnight in Villafranca del Bierzo. Includes: (B), (L), (D). Day 7: Villafranca Del Bierzo - O Cebreiro - Samos - Portomarin - Santiago De Compostela Breakfast. In the morning follow along the French Pilgrimage Way To Santiago In Galicia entering into Galicia. Visit the Celtic mountain village of O Cebreiro. Visit the Monastery of Samos and lunch in a local tavern. Passing through many villages making a selected stops until in Portomarin. Finally reaching Santiago De Compostela the end of the Pilgrims' way. Free time before dinner. Dinner on your own. Overnight in Santiago. Includes: (B), (L). Day 8: Santiago - Walking Day Tour In The Historic Quarter Of The Ancient Pilgrimage City Breakfast. Morning visit of the Ethnographic museum of the Galician people, plaza de Abastos market, cathedral & old quarter. Lunch on your own. Rest of the day at leisure to explore the city. Enjoy a "Galician Goodbye Dinner". Overnight in Santiago. Includes: (B), (D). Day 9: Santiago - Departure Day Or Tour Add-On Breakfast. Departure day or Tour Add-On (See Tour Add-Ons).
