Your Itinerary: Day 1: Arrive Paro. Drive to Thimphu about 2 hrs. Thimphu sightseeing. Start visiting Tashichhodzong “fortress of the glorious Dharma,” the seat of the central government where both the temporal and spiritual heads of the country preside. The dzong was rebuilt in the 1960s on the ruins of an earlier structure. Visit the Memorial Chorten, continuously circumambulated by His Majesty’s subjects, spring prayer wheels and murmuring mantras. Stroll through town. One may be able to catch a game or archery in progress at the Changlimithang compound below the town. Day 2: Thimphu – Wangduephodrang. Drive to Wangduephodrang via the Dochula pass. An hours drive from Thimphu will take you to this pass. From here one can have a superb view of the highest peaks of Bhutan. Overnight at hotel in Wangduephodrang. Day 3: Wangduephodrang. Festival and local sightseeing of Punakha Dzong and Chhimi Lhakhang. Day 4: Wangduephodrang – Thimphu. Drive to Thimphu for the Thimphu Festival and local sightseeing. Day 5: Thimphu Festival and more sightseeing with the visit to Painting School, Nunnery Centre, Bhutanese Paper Factory, National Library, Textile Museum, Handicrafts. Day 6: Thimphu Festival and more sightseeing with the visit to Painting School, Nunnery Centre, Bhutanese Paper Factory, National Library, Textile Museum, Handicrafts. Day 7: Drive to Paro. Paro sightseeing with the visit to the National Museum, Paro Dzong (fortress), Drukgyel Dzong, stroll in town. Day 8: Paro. Hike up to Paro Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) and visit a farm house for Bhutanese tea and snacks. Day 9: Departure. Paro – Bangkok. Wish you a pleasant journey back home with fond memories of Bhutan.
