Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival at San Pedro Sula or La Ceiba. Arrival at the airport and transfer to your hotel in town. Greeting by our tourguide and briefing of the motorcycle tour. Overnight in San Pedro Sula or La Ceiba. (B)

Day 2: La Ceiba - Pico Bonito Mountains (105 km). After handing over the motorcycles we take a short ride from La Ceiba into the „Pico Bonito" National Park to an impossibly green canyon with jungle scenery . We follow a winding dirt road along the Rio Cangrejal. This trip offers spectacular views: a waterfall plunging more than 300 feet from the canyon walls and rapids sliding around sculptured granite boulders. On the way back you can take a dip in the crystal clear water of the river surrounded by tropical rainforest. Late afternoon we return to La Ceiba which is a small port town with caribbean nightlife. Overnight in La Ceiba. (B)

Day 3: La Ceiba – Trujillo (160 km). For a while we stay on the highway to Trujillo before we turn off on a dirt road passing vast banana plantations. We will tour the plantation and see the processing plant , where the bananas are selected, washed and finally packed. Then we continue on the dirt road until we meet the highway to Trujillo again. Trujillo was the first capital of Honduras in the year 1525. It was here that Christopher Columbus landed in 1502 and the pirate William Walker was executed. We stay overnight in Trujillo at the hotel „Villa Brinkley" offering a great view over the bay. (B)

Day 4: Santa Fe and National Park (70 km). In the morning we visit colorful villages of the Garifunas – the black Caribs – where life has remained virtually unchanged for centuries. The dirt road passes through many little rivers along the Caribbean coastline. We will have lunch at the comedor "Caballero" in Santa Fe, where Pete , a former cook on a cruiseliner, will serve the best kingfish, shrimps or lobster. In the afternoon we will explore the mountains of the "Capiro y Calentura" National Park with a fantastic view over the Carribbean Sea. Overnight in Trujillo. (B)

Day 5: Trujillo – Catacamas (255 km). Today we enjoy the longest off road part during our tour. We will leave the humid climate of the Caribbean coast behind us when riding up the "Sierra de Agalta" mountains through pine forest and reaching the valley of Olancho, the biggest cattle farming area of Honduras. Overnight in Catacamas. (B)

Day 6: Catacamas – Tegucigalpa (220 km). On the way to the capital of Honduras we have a mix of paved and unpaved roads until we climb the La Tigra mountains passing an old spanish mining town before we descend to Valle de Angeles. This old colonial town still has much of it‘s 16th century appearance. The last 30km we ride on the highway to Tegucigalpa. With an altitude of 1000m the city has a fresh and pleasant climate. The spanish founded the town as a silver and gold mining center in 1578. Overnight in Tegucigalpa. (B)

Day 7: Tegucigalpa – La Esperanza (195 km). After breakfast we take a walk though the center of town. Then we leave "Tegus" on a road that is probably the most travelled in Honduras because it connects the country’s two major citys. After 60km we turn off to La Paz and follow a paved road into the western mountainous region famous for it’s coffee plantations. The condition of the road ranges from exellent to desasterous. Be aware of landslides – there will be no warning ahead ! In Macalla we get off the road and take a small dirt road surrounded by pine forest mountains leading to La Esperanza - a quiet colonial town with a Lenca Indian market. Overnight in La Esperanza. (B)

Day 8: La Esperanza – Santa Rosa de Copan (115 km). On a dirt road we will pass the highest mountains of Honduras. Up to 1800m high we enjoy the fantastic view over the region. The dirt road can be dusty in the dry season and muddy and slippery in the rainy season. To wash off the dust or mud we can take a bath in the hot springs near Gracias – a small attractive mountain town . Here we are back on the pavement again. A half an hours ride and we arrive in Santa Rosa de Copan – a nice little town with cobblestone streets and red tile roofs. Overnight in Santa Rosa. (B)

Day 9: Santa Rosa - Copan Ruinas (105 km). As there is much tabacco grown in this area we will visit a factory where they make world famous handrolled cigars. Then we head off to Copan Ruinas – the place of the Mayan ruins famous for the ballcourt, the longest hieroglyphic stairways and the rosalila temple. We will tour the ruins in the afternoon with a specialized guide. Overnight in Copan Ruinas. (B)

Day 10: Copan Ruinas – Lago de Yohoa (250 km). We ride back to La Entrada and stay on pavement towards San Pedro Sula. At La Ceibita we turn off to Santa Barbara passing a mountainous road to Lago de Yoho splendidly set among tropical vegetation. We will stop at the lake for lunch where many little restaurants offer a beautiful view overlooking the lake. Spend the afternoon just relaxing at the lake. Overnight at Lago de Yohoa. (B)

Day 11: Lago de Yohoa – Tela (160 km). After breakfast we take a trip on a gravel road to the highest waterfall of Honduras called „Pulhapanzak" with a magnificient cascade of 40m . It is located in a kind of park with tropical plants and there is a place to swim in the river. After lunch at our hotel we are heading towards the Caribbean coast on a highway to Tela . Our hotel is right on the beach, so enjoy the most beautiful sandy beaches in the afternoon. Overnight in Tela. (B)

Day 12: Tela – La Ceiba (125 km). Scenic ride on sandy roads along the beaches of the Caribbean Sea to „Miami" village, where coconut trees frame the coastline. Here is the entrance of the National Park „Punta Sal" , created to protect rare and endangered animals like the white faced monkey, ocelot and the manatee. We can leave the motorcycles behind and take a boatride in a motorized dugout canoe into the „Laguna de los micos" . On the way back we will visit the „Lancetilla botanical Park " , founded by the United Fruit Company in 1926 to grow a vast collection of tropical fruit trees and plants. After lunch in Tela we will hit the main road to La Ceiba where our adventurous motorcycle tour finally ends. Overnight in La Ceiba. (B)
