Your Itinerary: Day 1: After arriving at Jomo kenyatta Airport in Nairobi, it is a short drive to your home base. After unpacking and lunch, a visit to naibobi's world famous Giraffe Manor. Then home to relax. Tomorrow is a Big Day. (L),(D) Day 2: We drive south to the Amboselli District. Visit mines and dig for green garnet and raspberry almandine in the shadow of Mt Kilimanjaro! Then enter Amboselli National Park, the most popular of Kenya's national parks and also the home of the peaceful Maasai people, where we have arranged the privilege to camp for the night. (B),(L),(D) Day 3: Safari through Amboselli National Park seeing all the animals Africa is famous for, lion, elephant, wilder beast and zebra to name a few. We stop for Lunch at the Serena Lodge near Mt Kilimanjaro, and then travel on to Voi. We stay at the Voi Safari Lodge, which is perched on the top of a cliff-faced hill overlooking kenya's Tsavo East Plains. Visitors are assured of sampling Kenya's wildlife attractions that continuously beat a track to the three water holes (B),(L),(D) Day 4: After breakfast you'll have a chance to buy from local miners of Tsavorite, chrome tourmaline and color change garnet at ridiculously low prices. Then drive to Lunga Lunga, one of the two main crossing points from Tanzania. Evening camp is by the famous Umba River, with an open fire under the star filled African skies, where we will dine and listen to the unforgettable sound of hyenas calling their pack to hunt. (B),(L),(D) Day 5: We'll spend the day fossicking in the famous Umba River for pink, purple and fancy colored sapphires. Once more we will camp under the stars. (B),(L),(D) Day 6: Drive to Tsavo East game reserve, home of the white rhino. Take a game drive and then dine once more to the accompaniment of the African wilderness. (B),(L),(D) Day 7: An early start as we motor back to Nairobi. Dinner at Bomas of Kenya, where you will see the traditional dress and dances of the 14 tribes of Kenya. Back to base camp for one last chance to buy aquamarine, tourmaline and sapphire from locals, at prices you won’t believe.
