Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival at the airport. Transfer to Hotel Inderprastha in New Delhi. Day 2: Free day at Delhi. Evening departure to Manali by luxury coach. This journey takes you from the hot and populated city life of Delhi to Manali, which is one of the most beautiful hill stations of the Northern Himalayas. Overnight Bus. Day 3: Free day at Manali. Afternoon visit Hadimba Temple and the Tibetan Monastery. Evening welcome dinner hosted by the Sunshine Team where you will be introduced to the staff accompanying you on the trek and the itinerary of the trek. Day 4: Trek Begins. Walk from Manali to Sethan (3000 meters): This 12 km walk is quite tough for the first day and takes you across the villages of prini, Hamta and Sethan to camp in the wilderness. Overnight Camp. Day 5: Sethan - Chikka (3360 m). This is again a 12 km walk to slowly acclimatize guests to the altitude via Balu ka Ghera and then over to the camp sight at Chikka. Chikka is especially famous for wild flowers, small rock cut caves and astounding rocks. Overnight camp. Day 6: Chikka - Chatru (3360 m). This trek takes you uphill over to the first pass of the journey - Hamta Pass (4268 m). This pass has superb views of the magnificent peaks of Deo Tibba, Inderkila and Inderasan. After the pass you descend into the valley of Spiti on to Chattru. This is one of the most adventurous days and involves crossing the Chandra river. Local tradition says the spirits of the recently departed journey up Hampta Valley - it's a beautiful valley carpeted with a huge variety of flowers during monsoon season. Crossing the 14,000 feet pass we enter a different world - drier, with no trees, populated only by shepherds. Day 7: Chatru - Chota Dara (3690 m). This walk is more or less plain in the barren cold deserts of the Spiti valley along the right bank of Chandra River and opposite to the magnificent ranges of Chota Shigri Glacier. Day 8: Chota Dara - Batal (3960 m) this 17 km walk takes you to Batal a small settlement just below Kunzum Pass opposite to Bara Shigri Glacier with mountains in view. Camp near the Chandra River. Day 9: Batal - Chandertaal (4270 m). This day involves a distance of 16 km crossing the Kunzum La (4558 meters) with spectacular views of the Spiti Valley and down to Chandertaal lake. Day 10: Chandertaal (4270 m) is one of the most beautiful lakes of the Spiti Valley and is a trekker’s delight. Views of Mulkila and Chandra Bhaga range makes ones mind refreshed. A walk along the Chandra River which arises from the lake itself is named after the Moon God. This rest day makes you refreshed for starting the second half of the trek, which is a bit difficult. The Chandertal Lake is a jewel set in meadows of edelweiss. We have a day's relaxation prior to the adventurous crossing of two fast flowing rivers and the 16,000' pass itself. Day 11: Chandertaal - Topko Yongma (4400 m). This 12 km uphill climb takes you through magnificent views of peaks and Glaciers to Topko Gongma, which means "a big river". Day 12: Topko Gongma - Topko Yongma (4460 m). Yongma means "small river". This day involves an adventurous river crossing which has to be done early in the morning when the water level is lower. This river crossing is the highlight of the day as it is considered quite dangerous. Day 13: Topko Yongma - Baralacahala (4883 m). This is the third pass of the journey and falls on one of the highest roads in the world. This 8-km walk from Topka Yongma gives a bird’s eyeview of the Spiti Valley giving you a combined view of three rivers viz. Chandra, Bhaga and Yunam. Day 14: Halt at Baralachala to explore the area which is famous for small peaks and beautiful butterflies. Day 15: Baralacha La - Darcha - Zingzingbar (4270 m). We travel 18 km via Surajtaal which is the source of River Bhaga decending along Bhaga through shortcuts and joining Chandra River to form the massive Chandra Bahaga river. The river goes to Pakistan. Day 16: Zingzingbar - Darcha (3360 m). This trail of 20 km downhill via Patseowas once a big trading exchange place between the traders of India and Tibet in olden times. From Darcha one route leads to Leh over Shingola Pass through Zanskar Valley. Darcha is also a famous spot for many treks in the western Himalayas. Day 17: Darcha - Manali(2050). This day you come back to civilization over the Rohtang pass by a jeep. Overnight hotel. Day 18: Manali Rest Day. Visit Hadimba Temple, Tibetean Monasteriy. Overnight Hotel. Day 19: Manali to Delhi: Day shopping in Manali. Free day. Overnight bus journey takes you to Delhi. Overnight bus. Day 20: Delhi local sightseeing. Overnight Hotel. Notes: Price Includes:
