Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Florence – Radda in Chianti. Meet bike fitting, route brief and safety instruction at Tuscany’s premier rental center. Choose hybrid, road or mountain bike (men’s or women’s frame available). Van transfer to town of Impruneta. This is a classic route taking in the famous Strada in Chianti (Road in Chianti). While our team sets up the bikes explore the Piazza of Impruneta, (the “Citta di Cotto”) where the tiles for Florence’s Duomo were created. Leaving Impruneta on bike we access Strada in Chanti and it’s rolling hills, passing vineyards and olive groves. We offer three options (easy, mdium and hard). Continue along Strada in Chianti past vineyards then on to Greve. Expect rolling terrain with a series of small short climbs. 35 Kilometers. Hardcore: Looking for a real challenge? Leaving Strada in Chianti, begin climbing through the beautiful towns of La Panca and Cintoia continue on through vineyards of Querceto and over Passo Sugame (550 Meters above sea level). Once you reach the summit prepare for a long thrilling descent into piazza of Greve. 45 or more kilometers. Lunch stop with our good friend Tina (top local wine and cheese gourmet) at Café Le Logge. After lunch optional ride or van transfer to Radda in Chianti. Check in Palazzo Leopoldo. This very beautiful classic Tuscan residence has been perfectly restored. Includes: (L), (D). Day 2: Radda in Chianti. Loop ride of area including Gaiole in Chianti, with stop at world famous ceramics manufacturer, Rampini (shipping to your home available), followed by a visit to Castello Brolio, Enoteca Del Castello Di Brolio. Ride Profile: Moderate, rolling hills approximately 30 kilometers. Overnight: Palazzo Leopoldo. Cooking Class: Optional afternoon cooking class at your hotel. Learn the simple art of classic Tuscan cooking and enjoy the fruits of your labour. Includes: (B), (D). Day 3: Radda - Isola D’Elba. Check Out Palazzo Leopoldo. Ride to Castellina in Chianti, with time to sightsee, shop and explore this classic Tuscan village, then back on bikes for a ride to San Donato in Poggio for lunch and private guided wine tasting tour, weather permitting tour of vineyard by Classic Jeep at Podere La Cappella. This is a privately owned up and coming small vineyard producing 4 varieties, Chianti Classico, Reserve and two “Super Tuscans” (Merlot and Merlot-Sangiovese). The wine is outstanding, this vineyard produces wine for the Vatican. You can purchase directly from them, shipping to your home available. Lunch is prepared for you by the owner’s in their kitchen. Ride Profile: Moderate, rolling hills with one small climb, approximately 45 kilometers. Van transfer to Isola D’Elba. Check In, Hotel Montemerlo (Three Star). Includes: (B), (L), (D). Day 4: Isola D’Elba. Coastal loop ride of area to towns of Cavoli and Marina Di Campo. Ride Profile: Moderate, rolling coastal hills, approximately 30 kilometers. Includes: (B), (L), (D). Day 5: Isola D’Elba. Coastal loop ride along the Coasta de Sole dramatic coastal road with sea views and mountain top finish in town of Marciana Alto (375 meters above sea level). Ride Profile: Moderate to Challenging, rolling coastal hills with two short but challenging climbs, approximately 40 kilometers. Includes: (B), (D). Day 6: Isola D’Elba - Florence.
