TRIP ITINERARY:
Guests and guides meet at our warehouse in Merlin at 8:30 a.m. We will have a brief orientation for inflatable kayakers and paddle rafters at the river, prior to putting on the water at Robertson Bridge. You will cover 14 miles of class I - II+ white water during the course of the day. This is an excellent introductory trip for first time kayakers. You will paddle through moderate stretches of white water, calm pools, experience an abundance of wild life, and float through Hell Gate Canyon (featured in the movie River Wild). For those not wishing to paddle their own kayak or join a group in a paddle raft, oared rafts are available upon request. Each large raft will hold 4 to 6 adults. An all you can eat BBQ lunch will be served mid day at Indian Mary Park. After lunch, you will continue down river. The rapids pick up considerably in the second half of the day. Cameras are encouraged, as there are some great photo opportunities along this stretch, and our guides will be happy to work with you in getting good vacation shots of the family rafting the Rogue. After a full day on the water, you will reach the take-out around 4:30 p.m. Vans will be there to transport you to Morrison's Lodge where you will stay in cabins near the river and dine on gourmet meals. On day two, we will pick you up at the lodge at approximately 6:30 a.m. to begin our journey on the beautiful North Umpqua River. Travel time to the put-in is approximately 2.5 hours from the lodge. Morrison's will provide you with a boxed breakfast and coffee for the ride to the river. On the North Umpqua, the rapids are relatively short, but feature steep drops that vary in difficulty, some of which require precise maneuvering between rocks and holes. The length and location of our North Umpqua run will vary depending on water conditions. We have designed day two of this trip as a challenging run and remain flexible with changing conditions to ensure the best whitewater. We will enjoy a late lunch before packing up and heading back to Grants Pass around 3:30 p.m. Notes: Check out our 1 day and mutiple day options. Call us for special prices and discounts.
