Day 1 - San José:
Welcome! Upon your arrival at San José International Airport our Spanish-speaking driver will be waiting to escort you to your hotel and to hand out your travel information. Economy: Overnight stay at Don Carlos / Deluxe: Overnight stay at Grano de Oro.
Day 2 - Arenal Volcano:
In the morning pick up by a Shuttle Bus at the hotel and transfer to La Fortuna at the foot of the active Arenal Volcano. Optional (not included in the Economy Version / included in the Deluxe Version): In the evening at the hot springs of Tabacon, you may want to relax in a warm soothing bath of waterfalls and natural pools against the backdrop of fresh nighttime air and a starry sky. Keep a lookout in case that sky explodes with hot showers of red, yellow and orange, the sparkling lava flows of Arenal Volcano. Economy: Overnight stay at Volcano Lodge / Deluxe: Tabacón Resort.
Day 3 - Arenal Volcano - Monteverde Cloud Forest:
Pick up by a Shuttle Bus to enjoy a drive around Arenal Lake before taking on 35 km’s of adventurous gravel road, winding your way to Sta. Elena in the Monteverde Cloud Forest region, where the afternoon is at your disposal. Economy: Overnight stay at Cloud Forest Lodge / Deluxe: Fonda Vela.
Day 4 - Monteverde Cloud Forest:
Day at your disposal for optional activities (not included): Your first adventure might be an early morning walk through the Sta. Elena Nature Reserve, the best time to immerse in the sights and sounds of the jungle’s inhabitants greeting the new day. At the entrance of the reserve you will be surrounded by hummingbirds, their wings fluttering, bodies darting and seemingly suspended in midair, luminous and all sizes. In the afternoon, you may want to go for a "walk in the clouds" (optional). Start with your feet on the ground, hiking through lush forest toward the “Walkways" of Selvatura - suspended bridges, platforms and trails elevated deep within the canopy of the cloud forest. From here you are allowed a gentle, rare glimpse through the tops of giant trees into the nether regions of this hidden world that would otherwise remain a mystery to most of us. There are numerous other optional activities that you might want to enjoy during the remainder of your afternoon, including a visit to the Frog Pond, the Snake Farm, or the Orchid Garden. Day 5 - Monteverde - Manuel Antonio:
After breakfast, a Shuttle Bus takes you back to the Interamericana and following the coastline you will continue South towards the town of Jacó. Ask your driver to stop at the bridge over Rio Tarcoles, a great place for spotting large crocodiles, before heading further South to Manuel Antonio, for an afternoon check-in at your hotel. Economy: Overnight stay at Hotel Playa Espadilla / Deluxe: Costa Verde.
Day 6 - Manuel Antonio National Park & Beaches:
Day at your disposal in Manual Antonio. Optional: Visit Manuel Antonio Nationalpark (entrance fee not included): Are you ready for capuchin monkeys, sloth, iguanas, anteaters, and multiple species of birds, all within easy walking distance into the rainforest? A hike of about 1.5 hours on the park’s trails will get you this and more, including fantastic beaches within the park, where you are free to soak up some sun or bathe in the refreshing Pacific Ocean. Economy: Overnight stay at Hotel Playa Espadilla / Deluxe: Costa Verde.
Day 7 - Manuel Antonio - San José:
Shuttle Bus Transfer back to San José. Once in San José, the remainder of the day is yours to do as you wish. You might visit one of the various galleries or museums (optional - entrance fees not included) or just go shopping for some souvenirs. Economy: Overnight stay at Don Carlos / Deluxe: Overnight stay at Grano de Oro.
Day 8 – Departure:
Transfer to the International Airport for your flight back home.
