Day 1 - San José:
Welcome! Upon your arrival at San José International Airport our Spanish-speaking driver will be waiting to escort you to your hotel and to hand out your travel information. Economy: Overnight stay at Don Carlos / Deluxe: Overnight stay at Grano de Oro.
Day 2 - Tortuguero National Park:
Early pickup at your hotel in San José and ride through the Braulio Carrillo National Park, passing along pastureland and banana plantations, stopping for a typical Costa Rican breakfast, on the way to the small village of Caño Blanco; here we take the boat that lead us through the main channel of Tortuguero to the comfortable rustic lodge that is located on a small land strip situated between the channels and the Caribbean sea. After lunch your naturalist guide takes you to the small village of Tortuguero for a short tour and visit of the turtle museum, you then walk back to the lodge along the beach. After dinner there is the possibility for an optional guided night hike along the beach to observe the nesting of the sea turtles. (Season March-April and July –October, approx. US $ 25 p.p.). Day 3 - Tortuguero National Park:
This day is full of activities; in the early morning go for a tour to admire the awakening of the wildlife of Tortuguero. Return for breakfast. Then you will go on another boat tour through the small channels of the national park, where you will observe the flora and fauna of this unique area. Return for lunch and free time for a “siesta”, relax on the pool or go for a walk on the beach. In the afternoon you can either participate in another boat tour or stay in the Lodge to explore the jungle trails around the Lodge. You also may visit the open butterfly garden or enjoy your time on the pool. Dinner at the Lodge and the night off. Economy: Overnight stay at Laguna Lodge Tortuguero / Deluxe: Overnight stay at Pachira Lodge.

Day 4 - Tortuguero - Arenal Volcano:
After breakfast, you will embark the boat around 9 a.m. leaving for Caño Blanco or Matina. From there, the bus takes you to a typical Costa Rican restaurant near Guapiles. Right here, you will pick up your 4x4 rental car. Drive through the Northern Mountains to Arenal Volcano. Optional (not included in the Economy Version / included in the Deluxe Version): In the evening at the hot springs of Tabacon, you may want to relax in a warm soothing bath of waterfalls and natural pools against the backdrop of fresh nighttime air and a starry sky. Keep a lookout in case that sky explodes with hot showers of red, yellow and orange, the sparkling lava flows of Arenal Volcano. Economy: Overnight stay at Volcano Lodge / Deluxe: Tabacón Resort.
Day 5 - Arenal Volcano – Monteverde:
The morning is at your disposal for optional activities around Arenal Volcano. Around noon time, drive around Arenal Lake to Tilarán or Cañas, then toward Sta. Elena in the Monteverde Cloud Forest region. The last 35 km of this journey takes you up into the mountains, over a winding gravel road. Day 6 - Monteverde Cloud Forest:
Day at your disposal for optional activities (not included): Your first adventure might be an early morning walk through the Sta. Elena Nature Reserve, the best time to immerse in the sights and sounds of the jungle’s inhabitants greeting the new day. At the entrance of the reserve you will be surrounded by hummingbirds, their wings fluttering, bodies darting and seemingly suspended in midair, luminous and all sizes. In the afternoon, you may want to go for a "walk in the clouds" (optional). Start with your feet on the ground, hiking through lush forest toward the “Walkways" of Selvatura - suspended bridges, platforms and trails elevated deep within the canopy of the cloud forest. From here you are allowed a gentle, rare glimpse through the tops of giant trees into the nether regions of this hidden world that would otherwise remain a mystery to most of us.
There are numerous other optional activities that you might want to enjoy during the remainder of your afternoon, including a visit to the Frog Pond, the Snake Farm, or the Orchid Garden. Economy: Overnight stay at Cloud Forest Lodge / Deluxe: Fonda Vela.
Day 7 - Monteverde – Tamarindo:
After breakfast, drive back onto the Pan American Highway, from where you continue onto the Nicoya Peninsula and to beautiful Tamarindo Beach. Afternoon arrival at your hotel; the rest of the day is at your disposal. Make yourself comfortable and check out the several miles of beach and the lively town. Economy: Overnight stay at Cabinas Pasatiempo (no meals) / Deluxe: Cala Luna (breakfast included).
Day 8 - Tamarindo Beach:
Day at our disposal in Tamarindo. Just relax on the beach or go for an optional tour or activity offered in and around Tamarindo, such as snorkeling, dolphin watching, horseback riding or canopy. Economy: Overnight stay at Cabinas Pasatiempo (no meals) / Deluxe: Cala Luna (breakfast included).
Day 9 - Tamarindo Beach - San José:
In the morning, you may still enjoy the fantastic beaches of Tamarindo, then drive back to San Jose. Once in San José, the remainder of the day is yours to do as you wish. You might visit one of the various galleries or museums (optional - entrance fees not included) or just go shopping for some souvenirs. Day 10 – Departure:
Drive to the International Airport for your flight back home, and drop off your car before checking in for your flight.
