Tour Itinerary: Day 1: La Ceiba - Miskito Coast – Las Marías Your flight is reserved with a domestic airline. The flight to the Miskito coast departs early in the morning. The coastal communities are inhabited by Mestizos and Ladinos. Upon arrival, you will board the "tuk-tuk", a small wooden boat with a motor. We navigate through Rio Platano to the Miskito/Pech community of Las Marias. The trip takes about 5 hours, on the way we will observe the change of vegetation as we go deeper into the forests as well as diverse birds, of which 375 species have been identified. Lodging at a local family's guestroom. Typical dinner and 3 overnights in Las Marías. Day 2+3: Las Marías Las Marías is the last community at the jungle border of the Rio Platano Biosphere. These two days you may hike through the forest or through the many trails used by the locals to observe the varied flora and fauna. Spanish speaking local guides are available and can be hired directly. Typical local dinner and lodging at Las Marías. Day 4: Las Marías - Miskito Coast After breakfast, we say goodbye to our Miskito and Pech friends before we begin our journey back to the coast. Enjoy the navigation and scenery along the way. Intermediate stops for refreshing coconuts. Upon your arrival, free time to enjoy the ocean and the Caribbean sunset or to take a walk through the community. Typical local dinner and last overnight in the Moskitia. Day 5: Miskito Coast - La Ceiba Early morning, departure to the airstrip, where our boatman bids farewell.
