Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: La Ceiba - Miskito Coast - Las Marías
Your flight (*) to the Miskito coast, which is reserved with a domestic airline, departs early in the morning. The coastal communities are inhabited by Mestizos and Ladinos. Upon arrival, you board a motorized canoe which locals call a "tuk-tuk". We navigate through Río Plátano to the Miskito / Pech community of Las Marías. The trip takes about 5 to 6 hours. On the way you observe the change of vegetation as you go deeper into the forests as well as diverse birds, of which 375 species have been identified. Lodging at a local family's guestroom. 3 overnights in Las Marias.

Day 2 & 3: Las Marías
Las Marías is the last community at the jungle border of the Río Plátano Biosphere. The forest around Las Marías offers many hiking trails of different levels of difficulty. These trails lead you through virgin forest, that is home to over 350 species of birds and to many large mammal species, some being white-faced monkeys, howler monkeys, giant anteaters, white tailed deer and white-lipped peccaries. Learn more about the flora and fauna, take hikes into the heart of the jungle and observe the rich diversity of flora and fauna. Spanish speaking local guides are available and can be hired directly. Your meals and lodging are basic and at a local family's house.

Day 4: Las Marías - Miskito Coast
After breakfast, you say goodbye to our Miskito and Pech friends before you begin our journey back to the coast. Enjoy the navigation and scenery along the way. Intermediate stops for refreshing coconuts will be made. Upon your arrival, there is free time to enjoy the ocean and the Caribbean sunset or to take a walk through the community. Last overnight in the Moskitia.

Day 5: Miskito Coast - La Ceiba
Early in the morning you depart to the airstrip, where our boatman bids farewell. You take your return flight to La Ceiba (*). End of the program.
